My Review

EMOTIONAL STORY OF LOVE, LOSS AND MOVING ON

I really did enjoy this story. I think it was both beautiful and emotional. I loved Lucas and Mila. They were two little cuties. I liked Jacob and Abigail a lot to. Their chemistry and connection was off the charts.

Jacob was a good guy until he lost the love of his life Katherine. How does someone survive after that? Everything you thought your life would be is suddenly gone and the thought of truly moving on is unthinkable. How long is enough time? Should you feel guilty? Are you betraying the memory of the woman you thought you would be with forever? Are you betraying yourself? All those are questions one might ask themselves after such a loss. The answers are different for everyone. There is no right or wrong. It could be months or years…eventually something or someone will come along that eases the pain and allows your heart to reopen to the possibilities of living and loving again.

Abigail has been hurt in the past…betrayed by some of the people closest to her. She has a beautiful son that is the love of her life. She lives her life for Lucas and will do anything to protect him. She’s lonely and wants to move on but just the thought of being hurt again always stomps out any hope she has of finding that special someone.

But after stalking into the office of the cocky Jacob Greene to confront him about putting her sister out of a job she can’t get him out of her mind. And Jacob feels the same. No woman has ever stood up to him like the dark haired beauty Abigail Anderson. And he wants more…much more. And if there is anything to know about Jacob Greene…he always gets what he wants.

Katherine is never too far out of the picture. Jacob sees her in his dreams...he’s struggling to move on. I think Jacob’s relationship with Katherine as a ghost was unique. My heart broke for him. You could tell how much he was in love with her and how lost he was after she passed.

The only part of the story that I didn't care for was when Jacob went to Katherine’s grave towards the end and asked how could he love Abigail? How could he love anyone but her? And then tells her that she (Katherine) is the only one for him... I thought that it was an emotional and beautiful part of the story but extremely misplaced.

I don’t blame him for having those questions or thoughts…they are only natural. However, it seemed like he did move on. He lead Abigail to believe that he was truly committed. Jacob had been with Abigail and Lucas (Abigail’s son) for months and loved them and made promises and planned a future with them. Then he goes and says stuff like that after all that time. I thought it was kind of a slap in the face to Abigail and Lucas. I think that it would have been a beautiful yet heartbreaking moment if it were written earlier on in the book...It just didn’t sit right with me for him to say those words and have those feelings after so long. It kind of took away from the story for me.

I think the writing was ok...It was kind of fast paced where everything was kind of explained to the reader instead of the story being told to the reader.

Overall I still gave it 3.5 stars because the meaning of the book was great. Thank you S. Moose for sharing such a beautiful and emotional story with us.
