Review

Time and time again Tillie Cole just blows me away with her talent.  I was hooked on this series from the first time i picked up It Ain't Me, Babe and not one single book has let me down.  How she comes up with this stuff i will never know but boy am i glad she does!

It's Tanners turn in the Hangmen spotlight.  Tanner, an ex member of the Klan has a dream.  He's determined to make it a reality.  One day he will have the woman he loves in arms once again.  He's nearly there.  Everything is in place until the approach of a war the Hangmen need to win.  Lose and they all fall.  Tanner throws himself into getting ready.  If he can just get through this he's going back for his woman.  Two years he's been away from her and he just hopes she's had faith in him.

Adelita is an imprisoned cartel princess.  Given everything materialistic in life doesn't matter to her because she can't have the one thing she wants more than anything.  Tanner.  Her white prince made her a promise two years ago.  She's held out for him to come back for her but two years is a long time.  Her father keeps pushing and pushing her to marry a childhood friend.  She has no choice she has to do as her father says.  Time is running out.

A twist of fate brings them back together but the fight they have to stay that way could ruin the Hangmen for good.  Is love enough?  Is it worth more than the lives of family?

Gripped, excited, heartbroken, hopeful, desperate, hot, swoony, Oh My Bloody God! I went through every emotion going!! I desperately wanted to make the book last longer than it did but it was impossible to hold back.  Full throttle all the way!  Full on biker mayhem! I freaking loved the hell out of it!!

Tanner and Adelita on the surface were as different as chalk and cheese but scratch away all their bull past and they were two souls meant to be.  I loved them so bad!!  The chemistry they had ignited the pages of my kindle.  I swear there were sparks!!  She challenged him on every level and they both broke down the walls they had built so high.  She finally let someone in and he finally saw the truth of life outside of the Klan.  They save each other and their story is one of dark beauty you can't help but love.

The thing i love most about this series is the Hangmen brotherhood.  I love it.  How Tillie remembers everyone i'll never know.  Awesome seeing Styx and Mae a fair bit in this one.  Styx's chapters brought tears to my eyes but i also loved them too.

I'm also loving the new guys coming in more and more.  Lil Ash... oh my gosh i can tell this fella is gonna be one of my faves along with his brother.  Rudge is another one i'm waiting impatiently for.  Viking... For goodness sake woman write his story already!!!!  He's waited long enough to have his itch scratched! He has no prejudice so write him next!!! pretty please!!!! But there's so so so many more i want too.  Can i just mention Beau??? He has to get a book!!!

The plots and storylines spun kept me riveted and breathless.  There's not only the main story but others running through too and i love having to think about things and wonder whats going on? Wheres the next threat coming from?  Hoping to god not one of them go to meet the boatman.

I can't rave any more about this series.  I can try but it would never be enough.  Every new book i'm reminded of the brilliance of this series.  Original, dark and delicious.

When we pulled up to the small chapel, I let the driver open the door and escort me inside. Candles were still lit, illuminating the dark room. I reached out to the old stone walls and smiled. I always felt safer here. At peace.
Free.
I let the rows of candles lead me along the aisle and down the stairs until I reached the place I knew Luis would be. As always, he was hunched over his books. “Adelita?” I’d shocked him. He glanced at the clock on his wall. “You’re here late.”
I checked the driver had stayed by the main door. When I faced Luis, my only true friend left here in Mexico, from childhood, I let my eyes fill with water and held up my hand, showing the ring. Luis’s eyes fell in sympathy, and his face paled somewhat. “Adelita,” he whispered. I shook my head. Luis was the one person I could let my guard down with. The only one who truly knew the real me, and . . .
“Tanner,” I whispered, and my voice caught on a pained breath. “Luis . . . what about Tanner?”
Luis rushed over to me and took me in his arms. I cried into his shoulder, hearing him lock the door behind us. Luis let me cry until my legs felt weak and all the energy had drained from my body.
Luis and I sat on his small couch. He held my hand, just like he had done, years ago, when I’d fallen for the prince of the Ku Klux Klan . . . when Tanner had had to leave me . . . and in the months, then years, when I didn’t hear from him. When he didn’t return.
“Diego was always determined,” Luis eventually said. He sighed and faced me. I knew my face would look tired and worn. Luis squeezed my hand tighter. “When?”

“Three weeks,” I said, my voice broken with sadness. I laughed without humor. “I’m sure you’ll be told come morning.”
