Synopsis
Daisy Honey fled Trusty, Colorado, after years of battling rumors sparked by her gorgeous looks and lust-inducing name. Now a physician on the brink of a promising career, she reluctantly returns home when her father is injured in a farming accident. Daisy expects the small-town girls who hurt her in the past to take cheap shots again--but she's completely unprepared for a run-in with tall, dark, and wickedly sexy Luke Braden, the only man who has ever stood up for her--and the man she's never forgotten.
Luke Braden is handsome, wealthy, and the best damn gypsy horse breeder in the Midwest. After a restless youth, he's finally ready to settle down--only connecting with women is nothing like connecting with horses, and he's never met a woman worth the energy. After an arrest in a neighboring town, Luke's past comes back to haunt him, and he realizes that his inability to find love runs deeper than he ever imagined.
A chance encounter sweeps Luke and Daisy into a world of passion. For the first time ever, Luke feels a connection, but Daisy's life in Trusty is anything but permanent, and Luke can't manage a future until he puts his past to rest.

My Review
Daisy Honey was
raised in the small town of Trusty, where everybody knew what you were doing
before you even did it and on the flip side they would know things that you
never did or would ever do but that didn’t stop them from talking. Daisy’s high
school years were full of hateful rumours and hateful people. The only person to
ever really stand up for her was Luke Braden. After he saved her from a group
of boys, she ran and never did stop. For 11 years she worked herself silly to
become a doctor. When her father is hurt at his farm it causes Daisy to return
home to a town she never wanted to see again.
At the local coffee shop fate intervenes and Daisy runs into
Luke again and she is not surprised to see that he is H-O-T!! At first she
doesn’t think he recognises her and she is about to bolt again to her temporary
job at the clinic, when she notices he has a piece of duct tape on his arm with
blood around it. Well-being that she is a doctor she can’t just walk away even
though he claims its fine.
Luke instantly becomes intrigued by Daisy and well the hunt
is on. When he shows up at the clinic for a tetanus shot it starts a
relationship that neither of them would ever see coming. Their love and bond
grows but both of them are still trying to navigate around their demons that
are buried deep in Trusty.
Let me start with Luke…sweet baby jesus that man is one hot
cowboy!! He has never been able to connect with people besides his brothers and
cousins. But when it comes to his “girls” (gypsy horses) he has more love and compassion
than anyone else, which will have you melting in a puddle of goo. The way he
loves is all or nothing and when it comes to Daisy he can’t see a day without
her but before he can move on with her he has to figure out his past, while
fighting a reputation of his own around town.
Daisy is a strong female character with great values but
when she comes back and runs into the ‘mean’ girls from her past it makes her
feel like she is in high school all over again. My heart broke for her over and
over again while she opened up about her torment. I love though how she was
able to use her anger and hurt to better herself and become a better person for
it. It was refreshing to read a book where the female character didn’t crawl
into a ball and die even though it would have been easier to.
Over all Melissa Foster did a wonderful job of bring all the
characters to life, I even found myself falling in love with Luke’s brothers
without them even having huge roles in the book. I laughed at the easy banter
between everyone and felt as if I could go to Trusty and have a drink with
them. But make sure you have a few Kleenexes on hand because there are a few
parts that have you wanting to cry along with them because Miss.Foster was able
to touch base on some pretty heavy topics that are all too common in real life.
Taken by Love is a must read and I can’t wait to follow up
with the rest of the Braden crew to see what trouble they find themselves in
next.
