My Review
Overwhelmed By You is the continuing story from the Tear Asunder series.
In this book we have Kat and Reams story, but we also got lots of yummy and romantic bits from Eme and Logan as well, bonus!
Ream is A alpha male! possessive, controlling, protective, just the way I like my alphas and I loved him! I actually liked him all along, as a long time reader I already figured something would make him do and say all the stuff he did in the previous book, so I knew he would probably be my favorite in the series!
At the start of Overwhelmed By You, you get to read what happened between KitKat (Love that nickname) and Ream before they hated each other, they were friends, good friends and then they decided to cross the line and have one night together.
"I was so turned on, I couldn't even think straight. Watching her take me like that... God, how the fuck did I ever get off before her?" - Ream
When Ream is just realizing that this is probably going to be more than just one night for him, he finds something that sends him running. He's dealt with something similar in the past and doesn't think he can handle going through it again.
"The pain in my chest was agonizing, like a vise gripping around my heart so tight that it was going to explode at any minute. I needed air-fast." - Ream
But after having a few days to think about it, he goes to Kat and wants to talk, but Kat is hurt, Ream did exactly what she assumed everyone would do when they found out, and it hurt her, she needed to take back her control, put her mask back on and show that he meant nothing to her, so she told him to get lost and left with another guy, that shattered Ream, so then started their hateful relationship.
"Because I'd been hurt and angry and needed my dignity back. I wanted to feel powerful and in control after Ream had stripped it away." - Kat
As you can see, they both have major issues and both handled things badly, but Ream is coming back from being on tour for eight months and Kat is now seeing someone, but things get complicated when Ream makes it clear that he isn't going anywhere and he is coming after Kat no matter who she is seeing.
"You feel that?" He didn't wait for a reply. "It hasn't touched another fuckin' girl since it was deep inside you." His fingers tightened on m neck. "You know why? Because it wants no one else, I want no one else." - Ream
Kat is strong, she has had to be in her life so she isn't so easily swayed to just jumping back into Reams arms, but the chemistry and the sexual tension is ripe and it isn't going anywhere and it's driving Kat crazy (OMG IT DRIVE ME NUTS TOO) but she still hangs on, telling herself she needs someone safe, someone reliable.
Something horrible happens to Kat and it sets her back, Kat has lived off her flirty personality for so long that this sets her confidence back and has her tightening her grip on her controlling emotions and being strong to a whole new level.
"Fear smothered my insides like thick tar, and for a second I couldn't move. I held out my hand and repeated "no"over and over again." - Kat
Ream decides it's time to get away and try to get Kat to open up to him, they have fun, they get back to where they began, a friendship. But Kat is still locked up tight, letting go of her emotions and letting someone in means letting them hurt her, and she feels that no one wants to take her on, no one would want her.
"Christ. You give me far more than I could ever give you. If you only knew... Babe, you're ruining me by not being with me." - Ream
Kat finally gives in and accepts that Ream is it for her, there would never be anyone else. And let me tell you when this happens I felt like I took a breath that I had been holding from the beginning of the book. And this happens around 60% so that's long time!
They head back to the farm renewed, together, committed and I couldn't have been happier. But alas things don't stay happy for long. Outside forces conspire to tear them apart and to tear them down.
There is a good ending, it leaves off with you knowing there is so much more to this series, I'm pretty sure Crisis story is next and man I can not wait for that book!
So after this your probably wondering why I didn't 5 star right? Okay so the reason for that is because I felt nothing much was happening up until 60% there was lots of sexual tension but for me that was about it.
What I loved and why I gave 4 stars... Reams alphaness! must have in a book for me!
Reams utter devotion to Kat.
The conflict, I didn't see it coming, none of it.
Reading about Eme and Logan.
The sex scene's, they are HOT!!!! Oh gosh just remembering *fans myself* Where was I? oh yes the secondary characters, they are strong in this story, I loved that the story revolved around everyone and not just seeing scene's with only the hero and heroine in them.
There are clues dropped through the book, about what was going on behind the scene's or behind peoples backs, I had so many different ideas by the end, and it still shocked me I was like OMG, NO WAY!
So if you have read the first two books and loved them, dive into this one straight away, you won't be disappointed, I was worried about how this book would go after book 2, Logan and Eme's story was so powerful but Miss Rose has created another dark, devastatingly beautiful love story, that doesn't disappoint.
I have to add one more quote it was my absolute favorite.
"I mean it, Kat. Friend, girlfriend, or my fuckin' wife. I don't want you walking away from me when some other chick is vying for my attention because no matter what we are... you are more important than them." - Ream
