Reprisal is a story about a woman, Sydney, who as a child suffered some of the most horrific abuse I have ever read about by the very hands of the man she called daddy.
Twenty years have passed since her brutal, gut-wrenching abuse and Sydney has turned her life and her tortured past into something positive. She is now a Forensic Psychologist and helps children cope with the criminal side of the abuse that they have experienced. She also assists the FBI and local NYPD when needed on specialized cases.
So when the NYPD calls her in on a case about two young girls who were found brutally attacked and murdered, she is eager to step in and help. But with the all too sexy detective right by her side she is starting to have second thoughts. The events of these attacks is just all too similar to her own attack and she doesn’t want to risk people finding out her secrets.
That doesn’t stop Detective Gabe Torres though. He is all too eager to learn everything he can about this sexy and secretive woman. He is not the type to mix business with pleasure but when it comes to Sydney…all those thoughts fly out the window and he is set on doing anything he can to keep her safe and protected.
As I go lower, I see the tattoo of the number four on her hip. I feel her body tense up as the tattoo is exposed, but I gently kiss the inked flesh and continue my descent. I lean back on my heals after removing her panties and stare at her. She's looking back at me with the same fire in her eyes, her hands caressing her breasts. It's the hottest thing I've ever seen.
Gabe and Sydney have a strong connection from the very start and it makes for a few extremely hot and sexy sex scenes.
One the other hand…this was a very difficult story to get through at some points. The abuse aspect of it was just horrific and difficult to read sometimes. There are a couple of very graphic forced sexual scenes that I didn’t think I would be able to make it through.
I found the storyline to be very interesting and I really enjoyed the mystery thriller part of the story but it did get a bit confusing at times. I also had troubles with the entire storyline being within a week or so. I am no completely opposed to the “insta-love” connections but I would have liked to see a little more time frame in this book.
Other than that I found it to be a pretty interesting read and I would recommend it to people who love dark mystery mixed with an intense sexual love story. Also, I would warn you that the forced sexual abuse scenes are very graphic.
