Meet Gabby, the 18-year-old
beauty who truly believes that Karma is out to get her and ruin her love life.
Gabby believes that since her mother was the “other” woman breaking up a
marriage that she is now cursed as a result. Having had a series of
relationships ending in nothing but heartache and misery she believes karma has
basically deemed her unlovable. Gabby has since sworn of the male species, and
is determined to avoid the chance of getting close to any man and has erected
huge walls around her heart.
But it just so happens
Gabby’s wall may not be so impenetrable after all. After being forced to
attend a New Year’s party hosted by her new family (who pretty much see her and
her mom as home wreckers) Gabby finds herself-drunk, lonely and making her way
to the room of super hottie Dalton Douglas, her step cousin. Where Gabby proceeds with her decision that it’s time to hand in her V-card!
From here we are witness to page sizzling, and honestly such a vividly written sexual encounter that I was instantly hooked on, and excited to read this book. I love when books open with hot and steamy sex! Now remember there are step cousins, so no blood relation, so all is a-okay!

Of course Gabby freaks out
and bails on sexy Dalton leaving him to wake up on his own. From here she
manages to ignore him for the next 6 months. Until they meet up again unexpectedly
for their summer jobs at their families jointly owned PR firm.
Awkward! Here we start to see
that Dalton has definitely not forgotten or forgiven Gabby and he is determined
to win her over. Loved the duel POV,
especially getting to hear all the hot and dirty things Dalton was thinking
about Gabby and his intentions with her. Man, does this boy have some of the
best Alpha moments that are sure to make a girl blush!
The story is basically Dalton
persuading and repeatedly trying to convince Gabby to give them a shot despite
her belief of the Karma curse. They end up having to be partners on an
important case and obviously can’t help but grown closer and closer. I loved
seeing Gabby’s walls crumble and her finally giving into her feelings.
But of course things can’t go
so smoothly and there has to be a ton of shit that Gabby has to face in order
to find her happiness. Turns out there are some big secrets she isn’t aware off
that completely blindside her. The ending killed me and I wasn’t expecting
there to be a cliffy! I’m chomping at the bit to see what the hell is going to
happen!!
There is a ton of witty banter;
sexual tension and some very very smoking hot scenes that I was kept engaged
the whole time. I will say that I didn’t read the first book, so there were
times where I may have lacked background info, but it can definitely be read as
a standalone.
