My Review
Going into this book I didn’t really care for Maddox. I thought he was rude, mean and just an ass! However, after reading this book I LOVE him just the way he is! Yes he is broody and bossy but I LOVE it! You get to see a side of Maddox that will make you fall in love with him and break your heart. He is such a good guy and his love for Santana is I have no words! Seriously!
“I’m an asshole, I’m overbearing and controlling, and I’ll drive you fuckin’ crazy. But I can swear I’ll fuckin’ lay my life down for you, honey. Anytime. Anywhere.”
We were left in Precarious where Santana is in the hospital after being shot. Maddox is a mess because he is trying his hardest to keep Santana safe. She keeps being stubborn and hardheaded and is testing Maddox patience. I laughed a lot throughout the book because she and Maddox are both hardheaded and they would bicker back and forth. She even tries to use a boyfriend to hide and her feelings for Maddox but when that blows up in her face guess who is there for her like always. The sexual tension between the two is heavy! I kept thinking come on!! Give in now!! When they FINALLY did it was HOT!! OMG!
While Maddox and Santana are exploring their feeling for one another. Maddox is catching hell from his brothers because he holds a secret that could destroy Santana and lose her. Losing her is not an option so he holds on to this secret till he knows she safe and find out who is after her. This book is packed with a lot of action! A lot of stuff happens and secrets are revealed. I was wrapped up in the story. My only negative would be is I got frustrated with Santana because she was acting like a brat at times and I just wanted to slap her and make her see things differently! LOL! But by the end I was proud of her. Going through the stuff her Maddox went through opened her eyes and all she saw was Maddox! It was like she had an epiphany! The book goes back and forth from present to past and you see what happened to Santana and how she met Maddox. It also changes POV which I love! This book was amazing! I went from hating Maddox to loving him!
“You’ve been my life for a little over five years, and I’ve fought with everything I am for you. I fucked up, I lied because I wanted to protect the broken girl that stumbled into my life. I didn’t do it for pain. I’ve spent every fuckin’ day tryin’ to find that girl, because you’re every fuckin’ thing to me, and leaving you without was never an option.”
I can’t wait for the third book! Mack’s story. I grew a soft spot for him and can’t wait to see what happens!
