***THE PRISONER IS AN ADDITION TO THE REPLACEMENT. IT IS A STAND-ALONE NOVELLA INTENDED TO BE READ AFTER THE REPLACEMENT.
My name is Christian Walker, and Elise Duchamp is my drug of choice.
No matter how hard I try to break the habit, it’s a lost cause. Okay, maybe I haven’t really tried to quit this particular habit. All I can think about is owning her. Making her mine. Can you really blame me? With that sinful body, luscious mouth, and wicked tongue, she’s every man’s dream, and she knows it.
No one is immune to her charm, not even me, a man who has everything—a beautiful wife, an office with a view, and more money than most people can spend in one lifetime. Only I know how to make her toes curl. Only I know her body better than the other men she screws in her free time. None of them can compare to me.
But the joke is on me. I’m the prisoner.
The one who will never compare to him. The one man who makes me see red. His name is stored in her cell phone. It’s the first one she calls out to, the first one she cries for when all hell breaks loose. Ryder Jacobson.
The name makes me cringe.
She loves him, and I love her. In my own way, I always will. But the bad guy doesn’t always belong with the bad girl. Sometimes the bad girl needs a good man to believe in her, to give her that final push toward ultimate transformation. I wish I was that good man. That I could be her happily ever after. I guess that’s the thing about prisoners, though. They’re left alone with their torment, and in the end, they have no one to blame but themselves.
My Review
The Prisoner is a
companion novel of about 70 pages, and its main character is Christian Walker,
one of Elise’s many men in The
Replacement.
EEEppp! I was so
excited when I found out that Christian was getting his very own little
novella. A novella that for me, would allow me to gain some insight into this
very hot and dirty-mouthed man!! Christian Walker’s character in The Replacement had some kind of pull
over me, I can’t explain why, I was just drawn to his alpha tendencies and how
conflicted and tormented he seemed. I don’t condone cheating at all, but have no
problems reading about it, but if this is a sensitive subject for you, then you
may want to skip this read because there is some definite cheating going on.
The story opens
with a very dirty-minded Christian sharing his thoughts with us about the
object of his desire Elise! Yes he’s married, yes he’s looking for a hook ups,
and yes it’s wrong, even though he’s in an unhappy marriage, but… it makes for
a sizzling read!
Right away I was
sucked into Christian’s POV and loved hearing his thoughts while sitting at the
dinner watching Elise. From here the book moves pretty fast and pretty quickly
we begin to experience the hot and heavy sexual affair that ensues between
Elise and Christian, and man oh man it’s scotching hot! Christian is of course
the dominant alpha man I knew he would be in the bedroom! Yummmmy!
As the story moves
along we start to witness Christian become a little obsessed and completely
becoming all consumed with thoughts and wanting to see Elise.
After sharing a
conversation about fantasies, Christian decides to fill on of Elise’s despite
being 100% against it originally…AND HOLY SHIT IS IT FUCKING HOT!!! I’m talking
drooling and just plain clenching the girly bits! HOT and sooo the fantasy I'm sure that is shared by many women!
Its after this
encounter that things start to change, Elise begins pulling away, much in part to a
certain hottie named Ryder Jacobsone, and we see the struggle Christian goes
though as he realizes he’s never really going to make Elise his. Not when she
belongs to Ryder.
Then one final
event pushes her right out the door for good, it’s here that I feel so much
compassion for Christian, despite the fact that he made his bed, blah, blah,
blah… I still feel for him and wish so much that he finds happiness someday.
Overall, The Prisoner was a great little addition
to The Replacement and I loved reading
it. I would love another Christian novella down the road!

Haha love this review! Christian sounds like someone I have to meet! >.< I love it when a series give you a book in a new POV, so you get to see the other side of the coin and see their perspective. Christian sounds like quite the character, too! Great review, Gillian!
