In
a deliciously sexy twist on the classic game, USA Today bestselling author Mira
Lyn Kelly proves that when playing truth or dare—always choose dare.
After her one attempt at commitment ends with the
discovery that her fiancé already has a wife and kid, Maggie Lawson vows that
the only people she’ll love ’til death do they part will be her friends.
Unfortunately that means Maggie letting her bestie rope her into a year-long
dating dare: score a new date each month or pay a penalty. Seems doable—until
Maggie’s date stands her up, leaving only one option: the sexy stud who just
moved in upstairs. The problem? He and Maggie can’t stop fighting—and that’s
just the beginning.
His name is Tyler Daniels and the last thing he
needs is his neighbor distracting him with her girl-next-door smile and sharp
tongue. Tyler’s in Chicago for one reason: to woo back his selfish ex in order
to reclaim the child he once thought was his—and that means keeping Maggie out
of his bed. A tall order, since Maggie has become a bigger temptation than he
ever expected to face. But before they can even consider leaving the past
behind, Maggie and Tyler must accept a brand-new dare: real, forever love.
My Review
You know those books that you love to hate because they
cause you to have a minor temper tantrum at the characters or that has you
begging and making deals with anything and everything for two people to get it
together and realize what we already know? Well Truth or Dare is one of those
books.
I loved this book so much but at the same time felt like my head was going
to explode if the characters didn’t start listening to my constant nagging,
crying and begging. But with the amount of emotion I felt for this book it just
goes to prove what a great writer Mira Lyn Kelly is. She was able to rope me
into these people lives and root for them to find their way to happiness and
want to hold them in their time of need. I felt almost manic reading this book
I laughed, cried and yelled all in a span of a chapter. I loved every minute of
it as much as I would put it down being pissed off; I had to pick it up again
less than 30 seconds later.
So here we meet Maggie she is a strong independent women,
who needs no man in her life to be happy. She has great friends, a great job
and all around financial security but she also thinks that her best friend Ava
is in the same boat until Ava proposes that life could be better with a man.
The dare go on one date a month and it has to be a real date that you go into
open minded to possibilities of it going further. If you don’t follow through
there is consequences that will majorly affect your pocket book. So with this
in mind Maggie starts her one date a month even though she really is not open
to anything but she makes sure every date is set to fail. Then her hot as sin
new neighbor upstairs saves her at the twelfth hour and takes her on a date.
They had a strained relationship based on jabs and barbs at each other but she
did not want to lose to Ava.
Tyler is trying to survive the heartbreak that his last
relationship left and the last thing he needs is the sweet smelling, hot as
hell, cookie lady from downstairs getting in his head. So it was easier to trade
insults and barbs, only problem is after their date he finds her haunting his
every thought. But he has his eye on the prize for something else and can’t let
his feelings for Maggie to interfere nor does he want to hurt Maggie and their
friendship.
But I must say as much as I had to wait for fireworks, when
they happened holy hell. Turn up the A/C and bring out the fan. These two
together is hot as hell. Tyler is smoking hot and man does he know how to
please a women. Maggie in all her sweetness is no slouch in the sack either. I
fell so in love with the relationship these two had and loved that it wasn’t
insta love but a true friendship to crush to all consuming love.
But sometimes love isn’t enough and promises made are more
important. The eternal question of if you love somebody let them go and if they
come back they are yours to keep is so true in this book. My hat is off to you
Mira! Thank you so much for bringing these two beautifully screwed up people in
all the best ways into my life. Their story is one that will stay with me for a
long time and it is a true story of love coming from pain.
