My Review
The past is never too far behind...
She is literally running for her life and the life of her daughter. This has been her life for the last six years since that eventful night. The night when, lost in the cornfields in Montana, a woman drenched in blood asked her to watch and protect her newborn baby.
After staying on the move all this time, Sydney has now settled in this small town. Her life is as close to normal as is possible for her. With hopes that she will be able to stay and not have to continue moving from town to town, Sydney makes friends with the town's folks. One inhabitant in particular she is drawn to is the sexy sheriff - Wade. The man just has the most powerful impact on her anytime he is in the same room. The chemistry between these two can be seen by all - like sparks and fireworks in the night.
Finally falling in love with Wade, Sydney risks everything in order to stay in town with Wade. She must overcome her fears, as she receives death threats and her daughter's life is in peril.
This story had me spellbound and biting my nails. The plot line is unrelenting with foreboding that builds to a crescendo when all is revealed and blood will be shed. I have always enjoyed a good mystery/suspense. This book had me at the edge of my seat until the last words in the Epilogue. This is described as the first book in the Hidden Series. I can hardly wait to read the next installment in this series and what plot twists Victoria Michaels has in store for us next.
