My Review

Do you remember your first love? You know, the one where you could not breathe, or walk, or talk every time you were in the same room? Remember how you knew it would be impossible for him to reciprocate your feelings because he was older? What would happen if that love didn't just fade away? This is the foundation for this book. A first love kept secret through the years. Each encounter just as swoon worthy as the last. One problem, our heroine Angie has made a promise to never make it real. How can you handle these feelings knowing you can never act on them?

Angie has barely survived losing her sister. Her uncle Jahn has been like a second father to her. She loves her parents but when she is with her uncle, she experiences a freedom and independence to be herself she is unable to attain around her parents. Of course, spending time at her uncle Jahn's also means she can see Evan. She can dream that her love for him is mutual. She can fantasize and hope that maybe someday they will be together.

Evan keeps his feelings locked away in his self-denial. He also has made a promise to Jahn not to encourage Angie. Jahn is his mentor and has provided him support he never could have imagined from a stranger. He owes Jahn and he will keep his promise. This is easier said than done. Now that Jahn has passed away, will Angie and Evan be held to the promises they made to stay away from each other?

Our story is full of excitement, thrills, and mystery, with a twist of, dare I say it, illegal endeavors. Nothing is as it seems. Angie is determined to uncover the secrets Jahn and Evan have kept from her. What ensues is a delightful, passionate, and totally entertaining story that will keep you glued to this book. In spite of all the comings and goings, Angie finally finds her true voice and comes to terms with herself.
