Synopsis
First in a two part series.
Olivia
Ten years. Countless miles.
I thought I had run far enough away that he’d never find me. The man who destroyed my sense of safety and introduced me to the evils of the world came back looking for forgiveness. How can I forgive him when I haven’t forgiven myself? I look at his fiancée and wonder how she could love a man so cruel. However, the closer I look at her, the more I realize that maybe she doesn’t love him after all.
What has he done to her?
I have to find out.

Abigail
Many tears. Countless men.
I thought I’d found the one man who wouldn't break my heart. Two weeks before our wedding day, he came clean with his dirty past and shattered our future. He’s asking me to still love him, but how can I love a man so cruel? I look at the woman he destroyed, and I feel compelled to do everything I can to help her. I know what it’s like to be broken by this man.
Can I help her to live life again instead of just existing?
I have to find out.

My Review
When I first heard about this story and that it followed the lives of five people immediately I thought love triangle. I’m not a huge fan of love triangles so I wasn’t too excited to start this book. After a bit into it I realized the story was not what I thought it was.
This story is told in the POVs of Olivia and Abby. Two women who find an unlikely bond in each other. One woman’s horrid past is another woman’s possible future.
Olivia was hurt many years ago by a man she once trusted. She has never been able to move on from the nightmare that has become her life. Running from place to place to make sure he never finds her and never being able to get close to another person has left Livy feeling depressed and alone. That is until she meets Kyle, her boss, and eventually best friend. He has been able to break down a few of Livy’s walls but she still guards herself pretty closely and refuses to allow him all the way in. She thinks she might be getting better. For once she doesn’t want to run anymore. She has finally found a person she doesn’t want to leave behind.
Kyle is so amazing. He has been there for Livy for the three years he has known her and has saved her from herself when it has mattered most. He doesn’t know how he would ever live without her, just the thought of her not being there tortures him. He is so protective of her and does everything in his power to make her feel safe.
Adam is a bastard who brutally assaulted a woman who he once cared about. He is starting a new life. He has found a woman who he wants to marry and create a family with. So he does the one thing that he hopes with set him free…he comes clean to his fiancé, Abby, about his past. He has never treated Abby the way he treated Olivia so he is hoping she will be able to forgive him and they can start their life together. But when Olivia lays eyes on Adam for the first time in years all her fears come to the forefront and she doesn’t know how to react.
..and then my eyes locked on evil as he walked through the door. I no longer heard the conversation around me or saw anyone else in the room. It was as if I had tunnel vision—a tunnel straight to hell. -Olivia
But when they meet and she finds out just how broken the woman still is. And much to Adam’s protest, she makes it her mission to help her. She will not stop until Olivia is whole again. Through trying heal Olivia, Abby brings back the one man that Olivia thought she had lost forever. The one man that left her when she needed him most.
John was in love with Olivia but he couldn’t get past what he thought she did to him so he left. He has never stopped loving her and has never forgiven himself for the hurt he caused her. He wants to make things right with her and see if they have the future they thought they did together. But Olivia’s life is still a mess and beyond that, she has seemed to move on to someone else. Can John let her go and just be happy for her or will he try to get back the woman he helped shatter?
I thought this story was a beautiful journey of friendship. The bond between Olivia and Abby was a little weird to me but beautiful and strong none the less. Abby makes it her mission to get Kyle and Olivia to admit their feelings for each other. It’s clear as day to anyone in the same room that they love each other so why is it so difficult for them to see it?
Moving on is hard, especially after a tragedy such as Olivia experienced and Kyle doesn’t want to push her. He wants a future with Olivia more than anything but he is determined to wait to further their relationship until he knows it is what Olivia truly wants. His worst fear is her regretting anything between them. However, Olivia’s life just got a hell of a lot more complicated and he doesn’t know how much more he can take.
“I’m so fucking tired, Olivia. I was stupid to worry about competition from the rapist and the ex-boyfriend when I should have been worried about competition from your girlfriend.”
Olivia wants to move on but now with Adam and John back in the picture she is terrified and a bit confused. She knows she loves Kyle but will she ever be able to be the woman he deserves? She doesn’t think so and when things get to be too much for Liv, she reverts back and does the one thing that could not only ruin her life but also the lives of those who love her.
“It isn’t fair to make him wait anymore. He really needs to find someone to love him the way he should be loved.”
Even though this story is mainly about Olivia we also get quite a bit of story and insight from Abby. I cannot wait to read Abby’s story in Abby’s Survival. The way this book ended I couldn’t believe it. I was shocked and heartbroken. I’m sure we will get plenty more on all the other characters as well.
“I never would have believed it years or even weeks ago. Irony was not lost on me that I was faced with the realization that I could lose the one thing I’d ever really wanted and finally had—the will to live.

About the Author
B.L. Mooney started writing when the voices and storylines in her head ran out of room. They were getting too cramped and neither B.L. nor the characters could take it anymore, so she did the only thing she could do—she made room. She always knew she wanted to write, but vowed to make time for it later. Now that she’s made time for writing, most everything else falls to the wayside. That seems to suit the characters that keep popping up just fine.
B.L. lives in the Midwest and her other talents include in-demand cookies, a very dry sense of humor, and stealth eavesdropping. Some mannerisms, attitudes, or twists come from random sentences picked up while passing by strangers. So speak up the next time you have something to gossip about. You never know, it may just end up on the pages of the next book you read
