Synopsis

The problem with crazy is that crazy, by itself, has no context. It can be good crazy, bad crazy . . . or crazy crazy—like it was when my ex-boyfriend sung about me on the radio.

Eighteen-year-old Kate couldn’t be more excited about finishing high school and spending the summer on tour with her boyfriend's band. Her dad showing up drunk at graduation, however, is not exactly kicking things off on the right foot—and that’s before she finds out about his mystery illness, certain to end in death.

A mystery illness she is likely to inherit.

When your whole life goes from adventure and ecstasy to sad and suicidal, what’s the point? Not knowing who to love, and who to trust . . . where does it end?

The Problem With Crazy is a story about love and life; about overcoming obstacles, choosing to trust, and learning how to make the choices that will change your life forever.

My Review

Wow. What a crazy emotional journey.

Death.

If you had the chance to know how you were most likely going to die…and you knew the approximate time frame it would happen…would you?

Would it change how you lived your life?

“I’m going to try everything once, and if it hurts, or it gets hard, it’s going to be worth it. It’s about living in the present. Having no regrets.”

This is a story that follows Kate in her journey into learning about her father’s illness and her chances of inheriting the same disease.

She has just graduated high school and is on top of the world. She has an amazing boyfriend and a career path she is excited about.

Then it happens. She is hit with the cold hard fact that her father is “crazy” and there is a fifty percent chance that eventually, she will be too.

I am not going to go into detail about the events of this book because it is definitely something that needs to be experienced for itself.

But what I will say is this book is an eye opener. This book will have you reevaluating how you live your life and the people you have in it.

Sometimes those we think would stick by our side do not and sometimes we find people in the most unlikely places that will.

My emotions were all over the place in this book. It’s a pretty mild book throughout most of it and I wouldn’t say there is a “great love story” in it. It’s more about learning to LIVE and accepting situations for what they are.

“That’s why it’s the little things, Kate.” His voice was choked. “If you don’t celebrate the little things, the…biggest things will get you down.”

My heart broke for Kate in the beginning of this book…and the middle…and the end. I was absolutely shocked at some of the things that occurred and I felt so bad for her.

The story was a little slow for me in the middle but once you hit around 75 percent. You will not be able to put it down unless it’s to wipe away your tears.

I wanted to scream at the author and just ask her… WHY?
Why would she write what she did?
I was devastated by the turn of events.

I ugly cried big time.

I just could not believe the author took that route with the story. I was once again…shocked. But after really thinking about Kate’s story and her journey I understood why. I understood the meaning behind the people that were brought into her life.

This story is not finished yet. There is a second book coming out- “The Problem With Heartache” that will continue the story.

I am really looking forward to it. I would not say that this book ended in a huge cliffhanger. It ended in a way that it truly could be the end of the storyline (not a very exciting or uplifting one) but it was a good ending.
