True love never dies . . . but some lies are impossible to forget.

Jet

Nothing worth having in life is simple. No truer words have ever been spoken.

At the age of nineteen, I knew exactly what I wanted out of life, but everything changed after a chance encounter with a woman I couldn’t get out of my head, one that left me wanting more. What I felt for her was unforgettable; no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t purge her from my mind. She became my weakness . . . my everything. Little did I know our lives were on a predetermined course, leading us toward certain destruction.

They say love can be blinding, and I unknowingly walked straight into the blazing light.

Rachel

Jet was never meant to be mine, but for a short period of time, he helped me forget the anguish that had always been my constant companion. I allowed myself to feel happiness, to get comfortable, to be free of the nightmare that was my reality. But, when you’re harboring a secret, it’s only a matter a time before the truth is unveiled.

REVIEW

I'm new to this author so wasn't sure what i was getting.  I was pleasantly surprised!

This book is told in dual POV's but mostly from Jet.

Jet is a young rich ambitious guy.  He's on the verge of developing something big and making his own money at the age of 19.  His dad is rich but doesn't flaunt his money and Jet want's to be his own man and make his dad proud.  He's wary of women.  He knows most of them are only after money and what he can offer them.

He's just leaving one disastrous date and bumps into Rachel.  The minute he meets her he knows she's different.  She's not trying to catch his attention and please him and he loves this.

Rachel has had a tough life with a messed up family.  She meets Jet and finds a small piece of happiness with him she never thought she would have.  But she knows that it won't last.

Lies and betrayal come between them.

Once again a chance meeting see's them finding each other again after 14 years.  Can they rekindle what they had or will more lies tear them apart?

I enjoyed this story it was pretty original if I'm honest.  There are some sensitive issues in here and i felt the author dealt with them well.  I also liked the gap from younger to older and that it wasn't unrealistic.  I can imagine behaving the same way as Jet did at aged 19 and I'm glad that Rachel also understood his reaction even though she was heartbroken.

My attention was kept and i liked both main characters.  The story was well paced although i think maybe there could have been a bit more of a build up towards the end.

The only problem i had with the book is i didn't feel that invested in the characters and I'm not sure why.  I liked them but i didn't love them.  Maybe if there had of been a more detailed background at the start? Not sure. This is probably nothing to do with the book but with me.  I just wasn't that involved with them.

Overall i would recommend this book.  It had an original story-line and was easy to read.  I would definitely read this author again.
