Every theory has a test subject … even between best friends.
The pact: Stanford. The betrayal: AJ attending Duke. The reason: She did something stupid like fall in love with Evan. The problem: Evan’s not ready to let this betrayal go so easily. The solution: Find AJ and fix them.

3.5 “BFFs” Stars What a whirlwind. Communication. Communication. Communication. *Reminds self they’re only teenagers* The Thory of the Unrequited followed AJ and Evan in a past and present style story. Starting their freshman year of college, AJ makes a decision that cuts her best friend from childhood completely out of her life. Then going back and forth from how they became friends as young children through the events that lead AJ to cut ties with Evan in college, we get to see their relationship change. Also told in dual POV, we learn more about AJ and Evan and how they relate to each other and just how much these best friends also lose. Ending with fireworks on the horizon, AJ and Evan’s story is far from over.  Honestly I liked this story but I had a hard time falling in love with either character completely. I understood AJ. I could feel her teenage angst. The unrequited love. It was so real it was almost painful. And in all honesty, Evan’s character was just as real even if he frustrated me to high heaven and I am desperate to know what he did?! Being an obvious teenage boy isn’t pretty for a woman who was once a teenage girl. Lol Their interactions would go from open to honest to miscommunication and pain with the flip of the switch and I just had to remind myself that they were only teenagers. The other character, Evan’s brother was kind of a wild card secondary character. It added an interesting dynamic though I’m not sure I completely understand his purpose though hopefully that will become clear in book two. I also loved another secondary character that AJ meets in college and the sort of love triangle (not really) that is beginning. He might be might favorite character out of them all. ;)  All that said, I am anxiously awaking book two. I have no idea what direction it will take, where AJ and Evan’s story is headed but I’m sure that Ms. Webster will make it quite a journey.
