I was never supposed to be famous.
I was a lyricist, not a singer.
Certainly not a star.
Too bad none of that seemed to matter to a rock-god like Ryder
Woods.
He didn’t just want my words — he wanted everything.
And he took it.
My songs. My voice. My goddamned soul.
Between those haunting bedroom eyes and that heart-stopping grin, I
never stood a chance. I was pulled into his orbit like a rogue meteor passing a
sun.
The problem is, if you get too close to a star…
You’re bound to get burned.
FADED is the
first installment of an angst-laced, passion-fueled duet about a jaded rock
star and a starry-eyed songwriter. Due to sex, drugs, and rock & roll, it
is recommended for readers ages 16 and up.
REVIEW
4.5 “Big Changes” Stars
I binged this book from start to finish without moving from my spot on the couch. And now I wait in eager anticipation for book two. Ms. Johnson wrote a bit of a grittier tale with two imperfect characters with very different outlooks on life but find a connection they never expected. It made my heart race, had me questioning everything and on the edge of my seat.
In Faded we find Felicity moving to Nashville to start over. She’s on her own and likes it that way. She’s not had an easy life. She’s been hurt and it still hurting and as she slowly uncoveres the reasons why, her quiet life makes sense. Then she meets Ryder. He’s tortured in his own way and he’s looking for a way out of Nashville at least until Felicity. Taking a journey together with music at the center, they find a way through each of their defenses. While both Felicity and Ryder have dreams, they dream of very different things. But life has a way of changing course. As their lives take very different directions than they ever thought, not only are dreams forgotten but hearts are broken and lives are changed.
I felt Felicity and Ryder’s connection all the way to my soul. It was palpable. No matter how different they were, it was like their hearts found the other half in each other. Watching Felicity open up and Ryder let down his guard was honestly breathtaking. But their journey was not easy and as the story started to reach the climax, my heart was in my throat and I ached for them. I have no idea where the story will take these two. I know it’s going to hurt, I know they have a ways to go, but their connection was obvious and I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them.
