5 “Never Left” StarsThe chaos that is Ella and Teller is magic. Their dysfunction is the epitome of co-dependence. They love hard and fast, brutally and all consuming. But no matter how messy their relationship is, it’s unavoidable, unstoppable and unending. No matter how much they hurt and break each other, their love lives on in the most heartbreaking of ways. Their story isn’t easy, their path isn’t clear but their connection is undeniable. No matter how fun Ella runs, or what Teller does, they really are the other half but that doesn’t always mean that their happy ever after is certain. Far from it. They have to work to make it work and realizing their own shortcomings might be the most difficult of all.
It’s been a while since the beginning of their story, Closer, released. As the story opened I found myself drawn right back into their story like I hadn’t left. I was able to pick right back up without any problems as Ms. Elixabeth’s writing pulled me right back in. Her story telling was almost a physical experience. I felt like I was inside Ella and Teller’s head as I read. Their almost at times dizzying back and forth had me completely enraptured. She knows her characters and they make no apologies for who they are. This duet is one of my all time favorites and it was everything I had hoped it would be.
