Staring at his chin, because I couldn’t quite lift my eyes any higher, I cleared my throat. “Should we get ready for bed?” “Sure,” he said, his voice a rumble. Dan’s eyes were on me, I felt the weight of them. My hands came to the hem of my skirt and I hesitated, feeling winded for some reason. Sneaking a glance at him, I immediately wished I hadn’t. His gaze was watchful, but it was also unmistakably hot in a way that seemed at once both avaricious and accusatory. The vice tightened around my lungs. Kiss him! Just freaking kiss him! You want numbered steps? Fine. You kiss him- check. He kisses you back- check. Then you make out- check. Check the boxes. I licked my lips, balling my hands into fists at my sides again, preparing to follow my hasty list. But then he said, “Undress me.” My breath caught. On instinct, my eyes lifted and collided with his in much the same way our bodies had collided at the top of the stairs just moments ago. Jarring. Startling. Thrilling. 5 “Gratitude” Stars

The PERFECT way to end one of my favorite series. Kat and Dan’s story was so worth the wait.

Marriage of Inconvenience is a story years in the making. It’s a story that brings the whole series full circle, brings together the entire Knitting family and made me fall head over heels in love with Dan and Kat. Their journey together was not straight. But it was perfectly them. Ms. Reid created a love story that went above and beyond all my expectations and left me a little weepy but very happy because everything was exactly as it should have been.

Kat needs to get married. Problem: Kat isn’t dating anyone. Also Kat needs to make sure her future husband knows exactly what he’s getting into when even her closest friends don’t know what Kat’s life is really like. Enter Dan. Kat has been in lust/love with Dan for years. But after one disasterous night together two years ago, she can’t even look him in the eye. Much less do all the things she imagines — even when she swears she’s not going to imagine such things anymore. Finally he’s single. When she comes up with her plan to keep her cousin from ruining her families legacy, Dan is right there. And everything she could have hoped for. And yet exactly what she didn’t want.

From the very start, this story pulled at my heart strings. Poor Kat. After six books I knew her back story would slay me but it was so much more. And Dan. Gah. That man with a dirty mouth was to die for. They may have stumbled along with some miscommunitication, but he was there when she neeeded him and as they slowly got to know and understand each other, their destiny together was clear.

If you’ve not read this series, what are you waiting for?! It’s smart and sexy, emotional and endearing. I’d recommend not starting with this book though. There is so much back story (and so many characters) that I think it would be easy to get lost in the shuffle. But it’s a series that needs to be read. And if you, like me, are an ardent fan of Ms. Reid, dive right in. You will be given everything you’ve hoped for and an epilogue that makes the whole series come completely full circle.
