*** RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW *** Hard Lessons by Charlotte West

Cover Design: Sarah Hansen/Okay Creations
Release Date: August 28, 2017

Down-on-her-luck teacher, Daisy Clemmens, is about to learn some hard lessons. (Not like that, you perv.) Lesson One No matter how broke you are, never agree to a job that includes a rabid eight-year-old, requires a tetanus shot or where your boss is a sexy (and cranky) rock ‘n’ roll god. Lesson Two Do not, do not start to have tender, gooey feelings for the sexy commitment-phobe rock ‘n’ roll god. You'll only get hurt. Lesson Three Okay so you've slept with the sexy rock ‘n’ roll god. But it's not too late. Just whatever you do, don't fall in love. Whoops. Too late. Lesson Four Never love someone, even if they are a sexy rock ‘n’ roll god, more than yourself.

My Review

4 "Nanny" Stars

Hard Lessons was a fun and sexy story about two characters we met in the first book in the Wild Minds series. Daisy and Billy's romance was a slow burning, angsty one and even though I knew how it ended, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. With Ms. West's strong writing and well developed characters, she brought them to life for a second time in a way that made me love them all over again.

Billy is a rock star who unexpectedly learns that he has a four year old daughter. Not one to shirk his responisbilities, but still being a rockstar, he hires a nanny. Daisy graduated college and has had trouble finding a teaching job. When she comes across this job as a nanny, she isn't thrilled but the pay is more than generous. Having no idea who Billy or the Wild Minds are, she finds herself surrounded my the stereotypical life of a rockstar as well as a precocious little girl. As time moves one she settles in but the pull she feels toward Billy isn't something she wants to nurture. But it seems that no matter what she does she's drawn to Billy and he to her. But life in the spotlight is tough and so is trying to keep the life of Billy's daughter as normal as possible. These two have more than a few battles ahead if they want to make it work.

While Hard Lessons is labeled book 2 but it's really a prequel and we learned much of Billy and Daisy's back story in Good Lies. Still this book shed new light on the beginning stages of their relationship and how they came to the point they were in Good Lies. I really enjoyed their banter and their back and forth. I appreciated that their relationship seemed real for the lifetime rocker and the quiet nanny. I laughed out loud more than once. I would have loved a bit more of an in-depth look into the parts of their lives we witnessed from the outside in Good Lies but as a standalone, I quite enjoyed it. Ms. West is a fantastic writer with wit and the ability to transport me into her fictional world.

About the Author

Charlotte West writes romance about strong heroines and the sexy alpha males who love them. She lives in Washington state with her husband and very large dog (think miniature pony size). She spends way too much money on books, and way too much time reading. When she’s not reading, she’s feeding her reality television addiction, eating chocolate, or traveling. She's been known to eat her weight in Girl Scout cookies. She has a degree in Science and a Master's in Education, neither of which she is currently using but is still paying for. Occasionally, she moonlights as a YA author.
