Three simple words to describe me.
I had everything a girl could ask for, yet nothing I truly needed.
I'd made peace with who I was and the expectations set upon me long ago.
Only to have that peace shattered when a nameless hero rode into my world.
I wasn't allowed to have him.
Too bad I never cared much for the word no.
Because I'd soon learn the hard way that too much self-indulgence could result in incurable consequences.
He moves to unzip his fly, and I snap into action, stopping him. Biting my lip, I reach down between us and do it myself then tuck my hand inside his black boxer briefs. My eyes never leave his, so I catch every reaction my touch elicits. His nostrils and eyes both flare when my hand finds his velvety length. Rock hard with pre-cum resting at the tip. I swipe my thumb over it, and he visibly shivers. Grinning, I squeeze him gently and start to move my hand up and down, loving the way his breathing turns ragged until he stops me. “Shit, you gotta stop, or this will be over real quick.”
“Oh? What happened to all night?” I taunt.
He leans in to nip my bottom lip, and my panties grow even wetter. “Frost”—he tsks—“this is only round one.”
My breath hitches, but I try not to let any more surprise show and lift my thumb between us to my mouth, sucking his excitement from it and fluttering my lashes.
“Jesus fucking …” His mouth crashes into mine, rough hands tangle into my hair, and I hear the ting of my hair pins as they fall to the counter and floor.
5 "Antidote" Stars
Cyanide gave me one of the BEST heroines I've ever read. I loved Vera. LOVED her. Her journey to Jared was full of every emotion on the spectrum and I devoured her story. Ms. Ella Fields is a unique voice in the Indie community and I eagerly devour her words and Cyanide is another prime example of how to write angst, emotion and heart-stopping sexy times.
Vera has lived a privileged life. At least that's what it look like on the outside. In reality she has more money than God, but very little of anything that actually matters. But her life has made her cold. She wants to rebel against everything she knows but reality is a harsh smack in the face. Yet when a stranger resuces her, she finds herself drawn to someone she knows she can never have. But as Jared pushes his way into her life, her bed and her heart, the consequences become bigger than she ever imagined.
Having met Jared in Frayed Silk (and getting a brief glimpse of Vera) I was eagerly anticipating their story. What was Vera's deal, how was Jared going to move on, and how was he going to change? As I immersed myself in their story, I fell for both Jared and Vera but most especially Vera. Honestly I found a lot of myself in Vera -- which may not be something I like to admit ;) -- and her journey really resonated with me. Her life wasn't easy even though from the outside it seemed like she had the world by the tail. And when Jared finally let himself be more than just a body to use, Ms. Fields pulled every single emotion I had out of me and left me spent but completely satifisfied with their story. Was it easy? No. Was it straightforward? No way. But it was exactly how it needed to be and for that I am forever an Ella Fields groupy.
