REVIEW

This is book 1 of the Hunter Chronicles and also debut book by Claire Marta i believe.

This is the story of Jasmine. Shes a member of a paranormal branch for Scotland Yard. She has a sense for paranormal beings which she is just starting to use. She and her best friend fellow team member Twitch who has tech abilities are kidnapped for his skills. An arms dealer wants his help in making something to boost his arms deals. Whilst imprisoned Jasmine meets a man by the name of Eric. He is there with the arms dealer Marcel. She senses he is not what he is pretending to be and an instant connection is forged. I can't really say too much more as i will give plots away but the story goes from here.

I did enjoy this book. All the characters are likeable. Jasmine is the swearing bad-girl rebel and Eric is the old fashioned dominant gent. I really liked them both and i thought they went well together. The supporting cast were also really good i think there are probably some good stories to come from them.

The story-line was steady and if I'm honest a little too steady. I wanted more or a build that didn't really come till right at the end. I didn't feel much excitement before then. That being said the end was a great action packed scene on top of the Eiffel Tower fighting Vampires and Werewolves. I think if a bit more of this action happened i would have given 5 stars. Also there was a lot of chemistry between Jasmine and Eric and i think maybe more could have been made of this but again that came down to one scene right at the end.

For a first time book though i was impressed. Some parts were a little repetitive but there was a lot of imagination gone into this story and i think as the series goes on the books will get better. I did care about the characters which is what kept me reading. The love scene was pretty hot and I'm hoping book 2 with bring more of these two together.

I would recommend this book to friends and i will be interested to see what happens in the next book. This is part of a continuing story.
