Synopsis

This new adult contemporary romance contains mature themes and is recommended for ages 18+

This is a complete story with no cliffhanger!

Jet Taylor is the quintessential bad boy. A womanizer. A fighter. Dangerous. The type of guy most girls do their best to avoid. But Zoe Janes is no saint herself. In fact, she sees in Jet the perfect opportunity to distract herself from her responsibilities at home and the mistakes that keep her trapped there. He’s gorgeous, likes to party, and is clearly only interested in having fun—just like Zoe.

The more time they spend together, the harder it is for Zoe to stick to her “fun only” mantra. Jet is getting under her skin, making her believe things could actually be different. She knows they’re both trapped by the sins of their past but Jet is starting to make her think freedom might actually be possible.

And that makes him the most dangerous boy of all.

My Review

Two people lost in their past and held hostage by their guilt come together and find a little bit of peace and quietness in each other. Set out as just a summer romance to have some fun they find something in each other that they each desperately need.

Zoe and Taylor seem so different on the surface. Two people from opposite sides of town who would never think they have anything in common find out they are more alike than they could ever imagine.

Zoe is a strong twenty-one year old who has spent the last several years taking care of her ill mother and putting her life on hold. She feels trapped in a life that she never envisioned. She had dreams of college and just every day normal things that kids her age do. But when the person she loved more than anyone, the woman who has spent her life caring for her falls ill, she gave it all up. She knows her life is now dedicated to her mom and taking care of her needs. Her only escape is alcohol and guys.

“Feelings are dangerous. Getting attached means it’s easy to get hurt,

whether you mean it or not.”

Jet “Taylor” is the counterpart to Zoe. He had a great life with dreams of college and baseball but one tragic event changed his life. He now lives in a world where nothing matters, he has been told over and over again he is worthless and doesn’t deserve to be walking this earth. His days are spent working and taking care of his mom and his nights are spent drinking and partying. He uses to numb the pain and erase the guilt.

Together Taylor and Zoe discover what a ‘normal and boring’ life is like. They enjoy discovering everyday things that ordinary people do. They are able to forget what awaits them back home, even if it is just for a little while.

The truth is, I don’t want to have sex with Zoe. I mean, I do—of course I do. She’s ridiculously hot and her kisses make me feel like I’m on fire. But I want it to be more than that. I want it to be real. Fore the first time in my life, I want it to mean something.

And I want her to want that too.

But what starts has a summer fling quickly becomes more. They realize they need each other more than they thought they ever would. Taylor knows Zoe deserves better than him and Zoe doesn’t want to hold Taylor back from a future he deserves. So when something tragic happens, one of them makes the decision to end things early. Both are left heartbroken and shattered and to deal with their problems separately. What will it take for them to see that their lives are their own? What will it take for them to realize that they cannot be held prisoner to their pasts?

I found this to be a great story of finding that one person, even when you least expect it that will be able to show you what life has to hold. It took me a bit to get into the story and it was kind of depressing for most of the time. But I loved the happier moments where Taylor and Zoe could completely forget everything but each other. It was pretty well written and I the dual pov’s flowed really well.
