A Different Blue

by Amy Harmon
My Rating  5 BLEW ME AWAY STARS

A Different Blue

Everybody needs to STOP.....

ADD THIS TO YOUR TBR LIST RIGHT NOW!!!

I honestly don't know where to start with this review other than to say that this book was AHH-MAZING..
The writing is just beyond words.
This story was in a league of its own. It made me feel every emotion possible.

I can't go into detail with this review cause this is one that must be read without the spoilers!!!!!!!

Blue Echohawk doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know her real name or when she was born. Abandoned at two and raised by a drifter, Jimmy Echohawk.
Now 19 she is in her final year of high school.
Living day to day as a nobody.

When her new history teacher, Darcy Wilson, hands out their assignment to write your own story. Blue is forced to think and feel. She reluctantly writes her story, remembering her own history, and evaluate what made her the person she is.

~"You all have a story, It's been written up to this point, to this very second."~ Wilson

Trying to figure out who she is, literally, We watch Blue carve her story.

~"Once upon a time ... there was a little blackbird, pushed from the nest. Unwanted. Discarded."~

Wilson is contstanly pushing Blue, guiding her in figuring out who she was and ultimately who she wants to be.

~"None of us can help where we are scattered, Blue. But none of us has to remain where we were scattered. Why don't you focus on where you're going and less on where you come from? Why don't you focus more on what makes you brilliant and less on what makes you angry? You are missing a key element to the story. Maybe the moral of the legend is that we are all carved, created and formed by a master hand. maybe we are all works of art."~

Along the way Blue and Wilson form an unlikely friendship.
And as Blue finds her way, their friendship develops into something else. Something deeper.
Blue and Wilson go through so much together, I can't even tell you how much, as you have to read this without knowing what happens.

Her journey is only beginning and so much happens in such a short time that I was glued to my Kindle, I just needed to know what would happen.

Blue is scarred by her past. It was so refreshing reading a book that didn't fix everything.
In real life not everything can be fixed.
Sometimes people have to make these life changing decisions.
I didn't want Blue to do what she did.
When I read the Chapters, Deep and Grey I was a mess.
Omg what tragic yet beautifully written scenes.
My heart was breaking. I literally broke down and sobbed.

~"A moan tore from my throat, and I shuddered helplessly, no longer able to hold back the billowing sorrow that flooded my mouth, streamed from eyes, and robbed me of speech."~

~"I prayed He would take away my pain and if He couldn't do that, then would He, please, take away my love? Because the pain and the love were so intertwined that I couldn't seem to have one without the other. Maybe if I didn't love, I wouldn't hurt so much.~

I didn't think I would come back from that. But, Blue did, and as she did, I slowly came around.

~ Maybe it was the fact that I had pled with a God I knew very little about to take away the pain, but in the days that followed, I discovered I had been given the ability to weep. And in weeping there was power. Power to heal, the power to release pain and let go, the power to endure love and shoulder loss. And as the weeks become months, I cried less and smiled more. And peace became a more frequent companion.~

Wilson, Wilson Wilson Wilson…
What can I say? Not much at all, what an amazing Man!
I was not expecting the way it played out. It wasn't the typical controversial Student/Teacher affair that I was expecting when I started.
It wasn't any of that. It was a friendship built on understanding.
I can't express what it is in words. It's the feelings and actions and care that he gave. I wanted them together soo much, but it wasn't time for them at that point. Blue needed what he gave her.

It was a slow burn, but when they finally did came together..it was PERFECTION

~"I was afraid, Blue. You've been through so much. And I'm half mad over you. I don't think you're ready for the way I feel." ~Wilson

~I can't imagine that what I'm feeling isn't love. But 'I love you' doesn't feel adequate to express it. I desperately want you to love me. I need you to love me- but I don't want to need it, and I'm afraid I need it too much." ~ Blue

And then the ending.. WOW!!! What an amazing twist of events.
I was so pleased Blue got to know her story.
I wished this had an Epilogue. I'm a die hard fan of Epilogues and I wish Blue and Wilson got one.

This book was...
Amazing, soul changing, captivating and heartbreaking
It dealt with some heavy issues, and I absolutely loved it. This is a wonderful 5 star read, for anyone looking for an emotional story and an unforgettable reading experience you must READ this!!!!!

Favorite Quotes.

~I wanted to hate him because he was beautiful in a way I would never be. ~

~"You are many things, Blue Echohawk, I can even name twelve. But ugly isn't one of them."~

~"Sometimes the thing we want to be rescued from can save us."~

~"The Mystery of my life binds me still, Wilson.~

The Final Piece

The Final Piece by Maggi Myers
My rating: 5 Amazing Stars

The Final Piece

~Detach. Float away. I tell myself as I let my mind go numb.~

Rough, Remarkable an Unapologetically heart-wrenching!

Maggie Myers writes about an extremely difficult subject but treated it with respect.
Leaving you with a heart breaking experience whether this subject has touched you life or not. I felt everything Beth felt.

~ Panic mixed with dread spreads inside me, infecting every fibre of self worth and esteem. I can't see it; I only feel it as the happiness leaves my body in a dizzying rush. It bleeds out of me like I've been gutted with a dull knife. My spiral into despair feels like slow motion, but in reality, it's just a matter of seconds.~

Beth is suffering abuse at the hands of family friend and neglect from her parents.
Beth confides in her mother about the abuse, thinking she will save her.

"He hugs you and what? Does he tickle you, Beth?" She mocks me. "Jesus Christ, Beth everyone gets tickled at some point?"

To say first few chapters were intense would be an understatement. I pretty much held my hand over my chest praying for relief.

Beth's saviour comes from Tommy, a close family friend who has always been a father/uncle figure to her. After discovering what has unfolded, Beth is taken back to her home town with Tommy, her uncle, aunt and to her grandparents.
Beth embarks on a journey of healing far from the horrors of her home. In her darkest moments, she meets a boy named Ryan.
Spending one summer together, Beth and Ryan's friendship turns to first love.

description

However road to life takes them in different directions.
Beth moves on with her life, healing in time. Friendships form and life takes her forward with the decision of letting love back in.

10 yrs later and a tragedy brings Beth and Ryan together again.
Both Beth and Ryan haven't gotten over their first love and emotions come forth bringing all truths out.

~ There aren't many times in life you get the opportunity to come full circle, and I can't help but feel like life is telling me to grab on this time an never let go. ~

~In the end, there really is not a choice. I have been his since our first encounter under the cherry tree and, no matter how frightening, I know Ryan is worth the risk.~

description

My heart felt heavy all the way through with Beth, her journey of suffering and pain to love and life, to firsts and living and letting go of the past so it no longer holds power over her.

Truly a Beautiful story.
This is a must read!

~ Together forever, never apart. Maybe in distance but never in heart. ~

Dare You To

 by Katie McGarry
My rating:  ★ 5 Amazing Stars ★

Dare You To (Pushing the Limits, #2)

description

Ending up in Jail to protect her Drunk mothers boyfriend is just one of the many issues that Beth deals with in her life.
Beth really has dealt with so much ugliness in her life, constantly protecting her mother is all she has left.
All that changes when her Uncle bails her out of jail with the condition she goes to live with him and his wife.

Ryan Stone, the town's golden boy, baseball star has secrets he can't tell anyone.
With his family reputation and image on the line, Ryan carries on life like everything is fine, while his family is falling apart.

When Beth, the skater girl with major attitude, who made him lose his bet, moves to town, things start to get interesting.

~She's small. Smaller than I expected. That attitude is so big I hadn't noticed her height or size. ~

Beth is well aware of the perfect Jock and his need to win his 'Dares.'
All she is interested in is getting out of town, last thing she needs is the drama of Ryan Stone.

~Guys like him don’t go for girls like me. I’m a toy to them. A game. And these types of guys, they all have the same rules of play: smile, trick me into thinking that they like me, then toss me to the side once I’ve been used.~

However what begins as a Dare becomes an intense attraction.
Ryan and Beth develop a friendship, soon Beth learns to trust Ryan. And Ryan starts to see who Beth really is as a person.

~"By listening, I found a person loyal to those she loves. It was the first unedited glimpse into a girl that holds everything inside" ~

He sees past the hard persona Beth puts on. She might be feisty with a bad attitude but something about Beth, pulls him to her.

~“You’re beautiful when you laugh. You should laugh more.”
“Life hasn’t given me much to laugh about.”
“I could change that.”~

description

As their connection grows their secrets are slowly revealed. Ryan pulls Beth into his life and breaks her down.
He helps her to overcome her fears, showing her unconditional love.

~“You're a lot like that bird in the barn. You're so scared that you're going to be caged in forever you can't see the way out. You smack yourself against the wall again and again and again. The door is open, Beth. Stop running in circles and walk out.”~

But will Ryan be able to stand up and face his family secrets. Stand up for for what he really wants?
Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all

~“I won't let you go." I blink. As if he could stop me. "You won't let me go." "No, I won't let you go. You're mine and I don't lose.” ~

description

It's beautiful to watch as Beth grows from an angry, lonely girl to someone who accepts love for herself. She open's herself up to being loved and Loving Ryan.

~“There are times when you stand on the cusp of moments so huge, you know you'll remember them forever. This is that moment for me and for Ryan.” ~

I loved it. I loved it even more that Pushing the Limits.
I loved Ryan, sigh he really was so sweet, and loving.
I was worried I wasn't going to like him, because I was rooting for Isaiah, however Ryan won me over straight away!
I really connected with Beth.
My heart was just breaking for this misunderstood girl. She was so brave and tough. At some points I was angry that she wouldn't open up to her Uncle. I hated that we could see this beautiful caring person and other people didn't because she hid it behind her attitude.

~" My heart has been ripped multiple times and each time I repaired it on my own. I know my limits and if someone rips me apart again, I'll never find the strength to pick up the pieces."~

I need more Katie McGarry. I love her writing style. It's smooth and just flows off the page.
You go through all the emotions, she pulls you in and keeps you there.
Definitely looking forward to Isaiah's story.

A Pretty Pill

by Criss Copp
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Pretty Pill (A Pretty Pill, #1)

You know that feeling when you're in a book slump?. You search and search for a story that will give you the book high that you crave so hard. You don't want to start a new book only to be disappointed that it falls short, because you have recently read greatness and nothing can compare to the feelings that it invoked?

Well this is me. Like all the time hahaha I'm a book junkie I love the high, and I can not cope at all with the low.
Not only did 'A Pretty Pill' pull me out of my book slump, take me on an amazing high, I'm now left coping with the Low.

Jade Tayte is a party girl, living on campus at university and enjoying the carefree lifestyle that comes with being a 19 year old student, living away from home.
One morning she gets a call that changes her life forever.

In a freak accident while driving on their way to collect Jade for Summer Break, Jade’s parents are killed and her brother Silas is left fighting for his life.

Jade is forced to consider her future, when it becomes apparent that her Grandparents do not intend to step in and take on the challenging behaviours that Silas manifests, when it becomes clear that he will survive.
At 19, and with no script to follow, Jade must take on a parenting role for her 12 year old brother.

I really struggled with these chapters, Jade going through the emotions of losing both parents and trying to be there for Silas.
I couldn't believe her grandparents!
You feel her frustration and pain.
All the drama she endured to get Silas in her care. It was really infuriating.

~I'm getting better at pretending in the daylight, around everyone else. I hold it together pretty well, but at night when the darkness surrounds me, when I'm in bed and the gravity of the situation is closing in and engulfing me like black tar, sucking oxygen out of my body and leaving me gasping for breath, I struggle.~

description

Not only is Jade dealing with the day to day dealings of being a parent to her teenage brother but Silas has a Mental Illness.
The struggles they go through to control his illness is heartbreaking.

~"Why couldn't you let me die too?" He cries, "I'm not here. I'm not, I can't, please kill me." He pleads painfully.
"I love you. I love you, and I can't imagine life without you too." I cry
He's crying too, and holding me fiercely.
"Why couldn't you just let me die? he croaks, his body shuddering.
"Because I can't and I won't." I explain. ~

~I'm a coward, but I want to die." He says pleadingly stressing the 'want'.
"Please kill me Jade, when I'm sleep tonight, come in and stab me, straight through my heart, please." He begs me.~

description

It's so hard to read and not be effected by this.

Jade is living her life for Silas, no longer the carefree girl she once was her life is no longer hers.

~Silas' pain in my pain….
My pain is my pain….
All loss is my loss….
I don't begin or end. I'm a desolate husk of a fractured being that has no idea how to heal, because nobody wants to save me. Not even Silas, because he's struggling too much with the demons that desperately cling to his soul. And because I define myself within his struggle to be free of them. I am a slave to the drama; a slave to the feeling of helplessness that engulfs me every time Silas struggles to keep his feet walking one step at a time. I wanted so much to be my own person, free an unencumbered, it will never be like that again. I hate that Jade now, she's an accomplishment I'll never know, she left me behind in this chaos, I hate her, I hate me.~

description

Then we meet Ben....

UFC fighter Benjamin Reynolds has come home to Australia to care for his ailing mother who has been diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer.

Ben Meets Jade at the local gym and even though she is not normally his type he is drawn to her. However Jade isn't interested and that is what starts weeks of hilarious banter.

~"You are a delusional, self congratulating, chauvinistic, loudmouth louse of a dickhead donkey fucker." she snarls, and then continues, "If your dick gets anywhere near my vagina, you're going to need a surgical team to reattach it."~

~"Fuckface? Is that and invitation to fuck my face , or have me fuck yours?"~

Hahahah They were gold!

The sexual tension is too much when they finally Kiss. WOW what a Kiss it was.. Intense!

~Consuming and desperate need is burning a pathway through me, pooling in my pelvis; and I need him to crawl inside my body, entirely inside, like he could be buried within me. My sexual denial is just ludicrous; this man has my body and soul right here, right now and there's simply no denying the attraction any more. I'm seriously feeling destroyed, blown apart, like stardust in a distant sky, floating and inconsistent. ~

But Jade still fights her attraction and pushes Ben away.

Ben has been professionally fighting since he was 18, and it’s all he knows... so he also finds himself instructing mixed-martial arts classes at his local Police Citizens Youth Club, three evenings a week.
In a twist of fate here he is introduced to a talented hopeful, Silas.

Ben situates himself in Silas life and will not give up on Jade.

~"You think I'm going to run away from Silas or find him too hard then you're fucking stupid. I want to help him. So regardless of you throwing me away yet again, get used to seeing me around cupcake; because I have already decided to move in on the Silas Territory."~

When they do finally get together the sex is HOT!
Smoking hot.

~"Look at me." I growl gutturally. My hips and thrusting is rocking us, rocking the bed, bouncing her head on the pillow beneath it.
She looks up at me with those beautiful green eyes, and I can see the universe hidden in their depths as our eyes lock, and she pleadingly says, "oh, Fuck me."
I feel like I'm crawling inside of her, completely and utterly. The claim she has on me is complete, I can't imagine doing this again with anyone that isn't her.~

~"Get that fucking shirt off now, or I'll fucking tear it off in pieces." He growls, referring to the open pyjama top I have left on me. ~

~"I need you to kneel Red, kneel for me and cling on to the headboard." He requests.
I nod and arrange my quivering legs to compliance.
I feel ben's cock now that I'm situated in from of him, and he's guiding it into my pussy, where he slides it into my pulsing centre.
"Fuck, I just don't think I can get enough of this Red, you feel so fucking good; all the time." He says. ~

The sex scene when he asks about anal and he words his sentence wrong, and they both start laughing so hard. OH my GOD funny as!!

At the same time Ben is dealing with his mothers illness as she slowly starts to deteriorate.
The scenes with his mother had me sobbing. So sad.

~ My mum claims her in that moment, and my heart feels so much pain that I can't understand how something so beautiful can hurt so much. ~

~I can't help the tears as they form in my eyes, I can't help the sting in my throat as the pain transcends the confines of my heart and travels up to burn through my oesophagus; I can't prevent the gulping bubble of wrenching pain that erupts from my lungs. I can only place my hand over my mouth and 'will it' that nobody can hear me. ~

Jades journey was so hard to read. She and Silas go through so much.
A then with Ben and his mum. It really is so much to take in.
She constantly running but Ben is always there pulling her back.

description

This was intense. I'll tell you now I'm a tough nut to crack with tears. Sometimes a tear will escape or a tiny little hiccup can be heard, but generally I'm not a 'crier'.
I think in the 4 hrs it took me to read this I sobbed, 'SOBBED' at least 5 times. Like ugly U.G.L.Y cry.
My hubby was like wtf Jess what are you reading?
And I think I scared my kids hahaha.

I loved Silas and I can not wait for his story. I really want it now. But for now I guess I will have to not wait patiently.

Criss Copp has written an amazing story that just pulls you in.
Its raw and painful, You heart is aching.
Then your laughing and swooning so hard over Ben and Jade.
I want more!!

Favourite lines

~"I don't drink coffee with Neanderthals, I'm sorry if I appear to be rude, but I am rude."~

~"That Sir, is cataclysmic and thank you for calling me God. Your meal will be served when you can breathe again." I say to Ben who has flopped on the bed after coming in my mouth and deciding standing is not what he can currently manage.
"Meal?" he asks groggily.
"My pussy waits to be devoured." I explain.~

~"So good, just so good Ben, I feel like I should tear your head off and eat you like a Prey mantis." Jade Puffs.
"Excuse me?" I ask confusedly.
"Female Prey mantises eat their male counterpart after hot sex." She explains. ~
