My Review
The BEST! Penny, you evil genius. Giving us exactly what we didn't know we needed. I loved it all. Every word. Cletus and Jen were perfect for each other, for the story and for this series. As excited for this book as I have been since the first in the series was published, Penny outdid herself and made it more than I could have imagined.
Cletus is the "brains" and the "odd one" of the Winston family. Most people view him as the harmless eccentric of the bunch. But "the Banana Queen" knows differently. She's the quiet watcher whose overprotective and overreaching parents have made her into what they want but not who she wants to be. When she can't take it anymore and after watching Cletus closely, she finds her chance. Her chance from out from under her parents thumb and a chance to be who she wants to be. Using Cletus she's determined to show him that she see's through his facade. But what neither expects is that maybe there is more to their unlikely partnership than either ever expected. And as Cletus' carefully created life rules start shifting and his plans start to change, he realizes that maybe what he thought he wanted and needed out of life will be forever altered by the one person he pegged completely wrong.
Beard Science can be read as a standalone but as each book in the Winston Brother's series builds on the last, you don't want to miss all that is Cletus in each book. But I have to say that as much as I loved the first two books, I ADORED this one. Many books don't live up to their expectation because expectations can be so high. But Ms. Reid nailed this. It didn't only live up to my expectations, it surpassed them beyond what I could ever have hoped for. Getting to see Cletus in all his glory and then to see him humbled just a little bit was so satisfying. Plus I had some ideas about who I wanted and expected Cletus to fall for but Penny knew exactly who Cletus really needed and surprised and shocked me at how perfect his and Jennifer's love story was.
This series just keeps getting better and better. It was romantic and smart and so sweet. I finished this book with a smile on my face and in my heart and I'm aching for more of these brother's and their stories.

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing). By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.
