Synopsis

Recommended for ages 18+ due to strong language and sexual content.

Chloe McCarthy thought she had found the perfect guy. Someone just as detached as she was when it came to love and commitment. Someone who never pressured her for more than just sex. But when she gets a little too comfortable with their arrangement, and he rejects her for someone else, it triggers heartbreaking memories that leave her questioning her resolve for a commitment-free life. In a moment of self-pity, she calls on the one person who she knows will make her smile.

Matt Langston lives a drama-free life, and he wants to keep it that way. Chloe McCarthy? All drama. Which is why he needs to stay away from her. A mechanic by day and bouncer by night, he tries to focus on work, but the more he tries, the more she creeps into his thoughts and his dreams, until he realizes that he needs to get her out of his system once and for all.

The Fragile Line is a spin-off to The Fine Line, told in an addicting three-part romance novella series, with each part building on the last. The series may be read alone, however, reading The Fine Line first will provide a further introduction to the characters which may enhance the overall reading experience

My Review

I have to admit I was a little nervous to read this book after I found out that it was Chloe from THE FINE LINE. I was definitely not a fan of hers for all the hell she put Logan and Liv through. If you haven’t read THE FINE LINE I would recommend doing that before reading this book. It isn’t really absolutely necessary, but I think you will enjoy this story a lot more and relate a lot better to the characters, especially being that their stories run the same timeline.

Chloe has been hurt in her past which is why she is just up for a good time. After her go to hookup finds the love of his life, Chloe has trouble moving on and accepting that Logan can no longer be the one she runs to anymore. I have to say that I HATED HER in The Fine Line. Legit, like wanted to jump through the pages and throat punch her for what she put Liv and Logan through. The BIG ‘what really happened’ question I had from The Fine Line is FINALLY answered in THE FRAGILE LINE and thank god for that! It drove me mad not knowing what had actually occurred during a certain scene. Throughout this story I started to understand Chloe and by the end of the book, I was completely in love with her and rooting for her one-hundred percent.

Matt…Oh Matty is just super sweet and a genuinely good guy. He is someone who doesn’t like complicated, so why he feels this connection to a wild card like Chloe is beyond him. But no matter how much he tries, he just can’t seem to keep away from her.

I loved the friendship Chloe and Matt had formed. I think it was necessary for both characters and helped ease the anxiety I had felt with Chloe previously. Their friendship grounded her. Made her more than what she seemed to be. Proved to us, and herself I think, that she has something to offer other than what has been expected of her in the past.

This is the first book in a series of books regarding these characters and all I know is after an ending like that I just can’t wait to get my hands on the next one!

I’m super excited that the author decided to continue on with this series! The Fine Line was one of the very first books I reviewed and I absolutely loved it. Alicia did it again with The Fragile Line. Its fast and exciting. Sexy and fun. Full of tension and anxiety. Everything I look for in a book!
