Synopsis

Tempting, inked and highly addictive. Alex is all that and more…

I’ve made a lot of mistakes – ones I’m not proud of, and definitely ones that have left their marks both mentally and physically.

Things got lonely; I got lost in my own fucked up mind and in the end it left me fucked out of my mind and unable to fight – or at least win. That life’s over for me and I’ve moved on.

Six months into tattooing at Blue’s and already I’m the most wanted and sought out tattooist. My biggest clientele consists of women.

They come into the shop, end up in my bed and we both come out happy. It’s been my release since I’ve stopped fighting. It’s become part of the “new” me.

But when Tripp reappears in my life, I can’t deny the fact that I would do anything for that girl.

So when she asks me to move in with her and her ‘boyfriend’ – our other childhood friend – I never expected for things to get so fucked up and twisted that I would find myself only more attracted to her by each passing second or wanting to protect her from everything that isn’t me.

I have worked so hard over the years to suppress my feelings for her but when I find out that her and Lucas have been having an open relationship, I have the strong urge to rip his heart straight from his chest – to destroy the very thing that keeps him breathing.

What I didn’t expect was for Lucas to ask what he did. For him to ask me to do the one thing I have secretly longed for since I was old enough to know what the need was. The second thing I never expected was the look of need that I saw in Tripp’s eyes when he asked.

One night of free passion could change our lives forever.

I never said that was a good thing either...

My Review

Gaaaahhhhh! Alex! I have waited so long for this story, and finally, FINALLY!, I get Alex.

Memphis and Lyric’s story was one of my favorites of the year. I just gushed and gushed over it so going into SOMETHING FOR THE PAIN I had extremely high expectations.

I am a sucker for friends to lovers romances and Tripp and Alex have been best friends since she was eight years old. Both had developed a strong bond over the years, neither could envision their lives without each other. People often considered them a couple even though they had never been. The feelings are definitely there but they are both just too scared to cross that line and risk losing each other. Their relationship is flirty and fun and you can just feel the bond they had throughout the entire book.

But then Tripp’s boyfriend makes a request- one that is meant to satisfy all involved, but both Tripp and Alex are scared because if they are honest, they can admit their real feelings for each other. This could make or break their friendship but the pull between them is just so strong and make it or break it, they are willing to take the leap just to get a taste of each other. (PLEASE NOTE: I WOULD DEF NOT CONSIDER THIS A CHEATING BOOK even though Tripp has a kinda sort of boyfriend)… They both have their reasons for following through but the consequences are not what either of them expected.

And Holy mother of steamy sex. Before I set out to read this I was in the mood for something that I knew would be hot and dirty, and boy, this did NOT disappoint. Alex sure knows what he was doing and when it comes to the ladies and with Tripp his sole focus is to make her experience everything she deserves and teach her what it feels like to be completely worshiped…. LUCKY US!

Alex is a player, a one and done type. He doesn’t do relationships. He will give you a good time but there is only one girl that holds his top spot and that’s Tripp. Alex is Tripp’s go to. She needs that boy in her life. Boyfriend or not, Alex will always be her number one and that might be what’s holding her back with Lucas (her boyfriend). These two characters were amazing. I absolutely loved them.

I loved the storyline although, I did feel the story kind of dragged. It just felt like it kept going in circles…with the final result happening really close to the end of the book. I loved the end, but I felt it was rushed. I would have liked to see what was happening at like 96% happen more around 80%. I felt the ‘drama’ (or lack there of) with Lucas could have been a bit more escalated or complex. It got kinda mushy gooshy toward the end with them both just always thinking or saying how much they loved each other (in their heads)…repeatedly. I wish Alex would have just manned up sooner and told Tripp what he was feeling.

Overall I am so glad Alex finally has a story. And I am glad Victoria came up with someone as special as Tripp to give that boy. I loved it and cannot wait for more. I am hoping we get an ACE and Harley story coming up.
