Synopsis

Greg Cage was born to protect. While growing up, he was his mother and sister’s shield against the world… until he failed. For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around… until it was stripped from him. Now, with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and desperate for some control. All he has ever known was how to protect: his family, his friends, and his country. Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?

Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life. She has been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now. She has always been fiercely independent and proud. The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else’s help. But when that choice is out of her control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her strength?

The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs. Someone he craves. Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache. Her life takes an unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more havoc on another member of the Corps family.

All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor. He hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC. Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves again.

My Review

Cage is the second instalment of  Harper Sloan’s Corps Security series. Read my review of Axel HERE

I couldn't wait to get my hands on Cage. I fell in love with him in Axel and just knew he was my man.

Melissa Larson, Strong, Independent with a heart of gold.
When Melissa's sister is killed she takes on the responsibility of caring for her mother and nephew, Cohen. Working long hours, living in shitty conditions, Melissa's goal is to make life easier for her mother and in the end stop custody ever be given to Cohen's father's Mother.

When Melissa meets Greg Cage, her life is spun on her ass.
Cage lights something inside of her. His raw sex appeal and dirty talking have her craving him like no other.

“I am still trying to figure out how the hell I went from promising myself I wouldn’t get tangled up with this man, to seconds away from jumping on and saying yee-haw.”

After playing cat and mouse, Greg finally gets her in bed. And after 2 days they both realise what their feeling is something more than normal. Cage encourages Melissa to take a chance. Trust in the feeling.

"Whatever this might have been for you before now baby, there is no trying to go slow. I know you felt it; it was all over your face. I feel like I just found a piece of puzzle that I didn't even know was mission until you walked into my life"

But as soon as she lets go, Greg realises he knows something that can tear them apart and have Melissa putting up all those carefully constructed walls. Greg  just needs to find the right time to let her know.
But will he leave it too late?

I really enjoyed this. If you read my review of Axel, you could see I was little torn. I really wanted to enjoy Axel, it just didn't quite hit the spot for me. But I knew I was gonna like Cage. And I did.
Cage is more my type of Alpha. He had that sweetness to him that just gets me every time, and is not afraid to admit it.

“You don’t have to be strong all the time. Let me take it, Beauty. Let me be your rock. Let ME fight. For Christ sake, let me be who you need.”

I loved his relationship with Cohen. I shed a few tears in the kitchen scene.

"You're happy?" when I look up and see his eyes clea and his smile blinding, I know that right here in our kitchen, with the smell of chocolate chip pancakes in the air, we just become a family.

I loved Melissa, she was the best!  I loved her Attitude and Sass, she was fun!

“Seems like an odd thing to toast to when you just agreed to go off with a complete

stranger and play hide the sausage.”

And Cohen, Sigh.. sweet little Cohen. Just perfect!

I can't wait to see where Harper takes this series. So far I'm hooked and can't wait to get my hands on Beck and Dee's story. Bravo Harper!

Author Bio

Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her ereader attached. As an ex-reviewer and blogger, Harper's passion for reading runs deep. It wasn't until 'Axel' decided to take up residence that she realized her true calling.
She started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
