Synopsis
*Mikayla*
In one night my fairytale ended. Or it may have begun. This is my story of friendship and love, heartbreak and desire, and the strength to show weakness.
*Jake*
One night I met a girl. A sad and broken girl, but one more beautiful than any other. She laughed through her sadness, while I loved through her heartbreak.
*This is our story of a maybe ever after.*
He was right. It made no difference whether it was 6 months or 6 years.
I couldn’t undo what had been done. I couldn’t change the future.
I couldn’t even predict it.
It was one night.
One night when everything changed.
It was so much more than just the betrayal.
It was the Tragedy.
The Deaths.
The Murders.
But it was also that feeling.
The feeling of falling.
My Review
I want to die.
I want to be with them.
I want to be with them.
There's nothing else.
No one else.
Nothing can hurt more than this.
Nothing.
There are moments before you read a book and you just KNOW its going to be good. Then there are other times when you're not sure what to expect. Still in 2 minds and not totally convinced. You pick it up not sure what is about to happen, and before you know it you're thinking, OMG why did I wait to start. Why did I put it off? Well, that moment occurred for me with More Than This.
And the more I kept reading, the more it blossomed over into something that I can't even put into words.
Jay Mclean delivers a beautiful story full with longing, loss and beautiful relationships.
For Kayla, Prom night just turned into a nightmare. Where others are creating memories for the rest of their lives, Mikayla's life is crumbling down around her.

"In one night my fairytale ended. Or it may have begun..."
Jake Andrews, Star pitcher, Sexy, Swoon Worthy, Total Catch.
Jake witnesses every heartbreaking event of Kayla's Prom night. Watching her world come crashing down around her and powerless to do anything to stop it. Jake feels drawn to her. He is with her every step of the way and refuses to let go. He picks up the pieces, and with the help of his amazing family, they slowly help Kayla put herself back together. Knowing someone for less than a few hours and then becoming their safe haven, their rock, does something to him. Something about Kayla calls to him and he refuses to let go, ever.
I think I do. Love her, I mean. I think I'm in love with this beautifully broken girl.
It's a small touch, our skin only lightly grazing, but it feels so intimate, like we're more than what we are.
“In my mind, this is what I look like: A giant St. Bernard, huffing and panting with sloppy drool falling out of my mouth, whimpering, like I need to lick and taste a giant bone inches from my face. He can be my giant bone. Oh. My. God. Bone.”
And I swear on all things holy, Jake is so freaking HOT and SWEET and if I am being honest, I'm a little devo that I will never meet his awesomeness...
Being in his head... funny as all shit.
But it was his sweetness, his ability to have you swooning at his gentleness with Kayla, to know exactly what she needed. To be totally and inexplicably everything she could ever want.
Being in his head... funny as all shit.
My dick is so fricken hard, I could swing it and hit a home run.
"I want to kiss you so bad."
He eyes my lips and licks his before moving back to my eyes. "So why don't you?"
"Because if I kiss you, then I'll want to taste you, and of I taste you, then I'll need to fuck you. And when I Fuck you, it means you're mine. And when I make you mine I want it to be in our bed.
sigh.... seriously...
"He saw you at your worst. He was there when your life changed and your heart shattered. He was there to help you piece some of it back together. He’s seen it all, Micky. He’s seen you at your worst and he still fell in love with you. Like, truly, the forever kind of love with you. And I’m sorry, because I think your wrong. Maybe you don’t need to be a complete person, or maybe you do. But maybe, he’s it. Maybe he’s the other half of you.”
Jake's friends were the highlight of the book. Drunk Lucy!!! OMG I want a drunk Lucy friend...
"I swear to god, Mickey," Lucy snarls. Cam's pretending to hold her back amused by her drunken state. "I'll cut a bitch for you."
More Than This was everything I could have hoped for and more. Superb writing, thought provoking, depth in story & character development, heart and soul. You can't help but fall in love with Kayla's story. Her journey to find happiness, peace, love and ultimately herself was one that will stay with me for a long time.
"It's just you. It's only ever been just you it will always only ever be just you."
