Awww been waiting for Merc and he didn't disappoint.
Merc in previous books has been kinda sweet and not troubled at all but if you know this author you know there's something going on under the surface.
Merc has terrible nightmares. He's plagued by them. Often keeping him awake for days at a time. He doesn't know the significance of them but they are pretty much the same every time. He tries to hide that it's bothering him and carries on as the fun guy everyone knows.
While at college Merc keeps encountering a girl he has the hots for but she keeps throwing him mixed signals. Sometimes friendly other times it seems like she forgets who he is. She fascinates him but he's not sure he has time for hot and cold.
Cos is at the same college as Merc while she helps her sister Sophie who is looking after her ex who is very ill. Cos jumps in to help her sister because she really hasn't got much going on in her life. She's kind of floating through life not knowing what she wants to do. She doesn't feel like anywhere is home.
They eventually go out for coffee and they both feel the connection they have but Merc's nightmares are getting worse. His new room mate and Cos both start to worry about him. He's losing days through exhaustion.
Merc knows he has to figure out why he keeps having these dreams but how? Can Cos help him? Will his family have any insight?
You know what i love about this story? The fact it's not as heavy as some of the others in this series. Although what unfolds is serious it's not the main characters that are tortured as such.
Merc is the sweet guy you knew he would be. He was just plagued by these nightmares and i was really happy that Cos was able to help him.
Cos is also a sweet girl. She's a little insecure about herself but i loved her growth over the course of the book as she settled into her place in life.
I loved seeing past characters popping up and although I've hated him thus far i am really looking forward to Ross's story. I actually started to feel sorry for him so that one should be a good one!
There's little sub-plots along the way which will throw you for a loop and leave you desperate for the rest of the series! The storyline kept me engaged from start to finish and i just love the family vibe that goes on throughout.
Looking forward to the next one!! Fabulous book and amazing series that will give you lots of the boy torture, and girl torture, you come to expect from Ms Raven.
