"Sometimes it takes you losing something for you to realize how much good it actually did for you."

Matt Taylor grew up in a loving family who accepted the way he chose to live his life and whom he chose to love.

It's been an entirely different story for Nate Collins. His loving mother passed away when he was five and his father and step-mother have made his life a living hell.

They sent him to war as a punishment for his sexual curiosity and it changed his life for the worse.

What happens when those two worlds collide together?

Will Nate be able to finally live his life the way he wants to or will he crumble under the weight of his family's pressure?

Review

This is book 2 of the Love at Firsts series.

This story is about Matt and Nate.

We meet Matt just as he's about to break up with his long term partner John.  Matt just wants the happy ending.  He thought he was in love with John but along the way John became possessive and controlling and Matt decided enough was enough.  He wants what his best friends Haven and Spence have.  True Love.  He jokes to his friends about finding it with his neighbor Nate who has never got on with.

Nate is pretty much living day to day under his father's control.  After being forced to join the army at 16 Nate is now recovering and trying to build a new life after war.  He's a tattoo artist and that's about the only thing in his life he loves.  His dad has made him date his current girlfriend Lindsey.  She dreams of marriage and kids.  He want's none of that but his father is trying to force him into marriage.  Lindsey uses his dad against him and Nate goes along with it until he starts to get to know his neighbor Matt.

I'm a little conflicted with this review.  On one hand i loved it.  It kept me interested and i really did care about Matt and Nate.  Nate especially with his struggles and feeling about dating a man.  I liked the drama with Nates dad and family,  also with John, Matt's ex.  But then on the other hand i found some of it a little childish.  The "i'm Awesome" from pretty much every character started to annoy me a little.  I'm all for confidence but i felt it was a little over done.  I also felt that some parts could have been delved into a bit deeper.  Not much was made about how Nate lost a limb or his PTSD just kind of mentioned in passing.

The love scenes were well done and were pretty hot.  I believe this is this authors first venture into M/M and i think with a little more depth to the story she could do really well at it.  Both lead's were alpha and quite funny and loving.

The supporting cast were enjoyable i liked all of them and would be interested in their stories should they come out in the future.

Overall i would recommend this book.  It's not as deep as it had potential to have but nonetheless a nice enjoyable read.

Author Bio

Muriel Garcia is an indie author from Belgium.

She started writing in 2005 but never published anything until 2015 when she decided to bite the bullet and just do it. She's grateful for all the amazing people she got to meet through her passion for writing.

The 'Last Hangman MC Series' is the one that made people find out about her but since then she released a contemporary series and a dark gory thriller, which people have compared to Stephen King on crack — thing she's rather proud of.

Some of her favourite things include snowy days, live music, horror movies, ghost stories, travelling and of course a cosy day spent with a good book.
