My Review
Wow, where do I start with this review. I was so happy when I reached the end of Degrade book #1 in T. L. Smith’s Flawed series and discovered that Book #2, Twisted Perception was going to be Aria’s story. I loved her character from the moment she was introduced to the story line, and you just knew that a woman with her exclusive skills set was going to make for an extremely interesting read. And it didn’t disappoint.
Aria is a sex trafficker; specifically her job is to hunt down attractive young men, break them down, bend them to her will and then sell them off to rich older ladies to keep for their personal use. It’s is a dark and twisted read and the process involved is not for the faint-hearted reader but it is definitely worth it; Just to know her character and the heart breaking past she endured to shape her into the woman that is now known as the best in the business.
It was so refreshing to read a story with a female lead character that is the dominant figure and has the men fearing her bad side. She is such a strong, independent, kick ass woman who knows what she wants and gets it. Her past has left her with a warped view on love and relationships and sex is really the only thing she understands, so when Mika comes into her life with the specific goal to make her his, she is not interested in the slightest.
Mika has wanted Aria since the moment he laid eyes on her, and the way he will stop at nothing until she succumbs to him, has him bordering on slightly stalkerish, but his character is so damn likable and sweet at the same time it was hard to let that affect my opinion of him.
I really loved how T. L. Smith has managed to intertwine passion and sweet romance into such a dark subject matter and then added plenty of light-hearted humour as well, to create a storyline that just worked effortlessly with all of those elements combined. And the sex! Plentiful and HOT! This author can certainly write a captivating lust filled scene.
Twisted Perception can be read as a standalone but I recommend that you do yourself a favour and go back and read Degrade first, not because there is any information missing, but because you get to see Aria as well as other’s from a whole different perception and it just adds so much extra to her story. I’m looking forward to seeing what else this author has in store for us in the Flawed series because there are definitely a few other favourites of mine that I would love to see more from.
