Blue Williams shines no matter the circumstance. -Prettiest in her hometown -Most talented cheerleader on her high school squad -Valedictorian of the senior class -Prom queen and runner up for Miss Teen Colorado And the list goes on…

That’s until college, when she finds out nobody recognizes her, and if they do they couldn’t care less. Blending in is something Blue has longed for her entire life. Living in a dorm with a set of new friends is just what she needed to escape her stale life back home. For the first time, she’s seen for her talent and not her name or looks.

Cheer is her number one priority, considering a full-ride scholarship landed her at a prestigious university, and she intends to take advantage of it. A true beauty inside and out, Blue’s heart has always pumped competitive blood.

Until one night changes her forever…the beauty is gone, and all she has left are nasty, ugly memories. The man who saved her has a story of his own, with ninety percent of his body scarred.

What happens when the Beauty falls for the Beast?

Sometimes all it takes is one person to make you see yourself and love yourself for who you are. That is what Blue was for Tuck.

Tuck has suffered a life of solitude because of something that happened years ago. He doesn’t talk or really interact much to anyone, especially girls. He is a football star and at the top of his game and his focus is split between the game and his family.

Blue went to college with one focus- cheer. But when Blue lays her eyes on this dark sexy man she can’t help all the fantasies that swarm her mind. Her life is about cheer. Its her focus- her main priority but Tuck is a mystery- one that she can’t turn away from.

Their attraction to each other is evident and as much as Blue puts herself out there and makes her feelings known to Tuck, he rejects her at all costs, afraid of her wielding her way in and getting to see the real him.

Blue is beautiful and athletic. She is at the top of her game when it comes to doing what she loves. But sometimes- being popular has its consequences. Ones that could cost you your life.

This is my first read from HJ Bellus. This cover is what caught my eye and I knew I had to read it. I loved the storyline and the characters were fantastic. I loved Tuck and my heart ached for all of his misguided perceptions. I started out loving Blue- but as the story went on I didn’t understand some of her choices. A huge part of this story revolves around these attacks that have been happening around campus and Blue’s actions toward that issue didn’t really make a whole lot of sense to me. I felt she was a strong character throughout most of this story (especially when it came to Tuck and standing up for herself)- but when it really mattered she converted into someone I didn’t recognize and I was a bit let down at some of her choices.

My favorite part of this story was the issues surrounding Tuck. I wish we would have had more of his POV (we get two or three chapters of his pov). The ending was good but it felt kind of rushed to me and again, all the pieces didn’t really add up. I was left with some questions about how or why things happened like they did or what happened to certain characters.

Overall, its an emotional/serious storyline with a fun and sexy up beat sense to it. The strong Blue captured a part of me and I just fell in love with her and the story. If it weren’t for those few ‘holes’ or weak choices made from ultimately strong characters I would have given this book a Five Star rating.

***3.75 STARS***
