My Review

K. Webster has written another dark, sexy and twisty story. Sweet Jayne, told in dual pov, tells the story of Nadia and the three men in her life: Donovan, Kasper and Logan. As Nadia and Logan tell the story of Sweet Jayne, Nadia's history unfolds in the most unexpected way leaving me wondering what was actually happening more than once.

Sweet Jayne opens with 17 year old Nadia moving to a new town with her mother and new step father Dononvan. With their complicated relationship, Nadia isn't quite sure what to make of him. Then she witnesses a devasting abduction that leaves her reeling even after 10 years when the story picks back up.

Kasper is the abducted girl's brother and he's sure Nadia knows more than she's told anyone. For the last 10 years he's tried to find his sister with no luck while Nadia goes to college and starts her life until she disappeared three years ago only to show up again as his boss Logan's fiancé.

Logan is Nadia's fiancé yet their relationship is anything but traditional. With an air of mystery surrounding them, Logan is possessive and controlling and seemingly not good boyfriend material. It's clear that Nadia is playing a role in a game she's created but the reader is left to wonder what that is.

With so many intersecting storyliness, Nadia's story left me speechless more than once. Just when I thought I had it somewhat figured out, I was given a new piece of information that had my head spinning. Ms. Webster is a master storyteller. The way she weaves together her stories is nothing short of brilliant. I would only say that in Sweet Jayne I had a moment in which my suspension of disbelief wouldn't fully let go and that particular part of the twist seemed like there should have been a much easier solution earlier on. But even when the realistic and problem solving part of my brain took over, I was still able to enjoy the suspense and mystery. Plus this may be the sexiest book I've read from K. Webster yet. There were a couple sex scenes here that seriously almost started my Kindle on fire. With the the sexual tension and the unraveling relationship I wasn't exactly sure about made it that much sexier. I'll read K.'s brand of taboo any day. Actually I'll read anything K writes any time she writes it because she's a master at her craft.
