Brady…
What the hell do I know about raising a baby? Nothing. Not a goddamn thing.
Yet here I am, the sole guardian of my niece. I’d be lost if it weren’t for Katherine, the beautiful girl who seems to have all the answers. Katherine, who’s slowly finding her way into my cynical heart.
I keep reminding myself that I can’t fall for someone when we don’t have a future. But telling myself this lie and believing it are two different things.
Katherine…
When Brady shows up on a Harley, looking like an avenging angel—six feet, three inches of chiseled muscle, eyes the color of wild sage, and sun-kissed skin emblazoned with tattoos—I’m not sure if I should fall at his feet or run like hell. Because if I tell him what happened the night his family died, he might hate me.
What I don’t count on are the nights we spend together trying to forget the heartache that brought us here. I promise him it won’t mean anything, that I won’t fall in love.
I shouldn’t make promises I can’t keep.
Shameless is an adult contemporary romance/spinoff featuring a character from The Dearest Series, but it can be read as a complete standalone.

My Review
Shameless is a standalone about two people who, as much as they may want, can't be together. Two people whose lives were never really supposed to intersect but now they have a connection can no longer be ignored. Brady and Katherine are about as different as possible but as they forge ahead with a path in life neither was ready for, they are bound by more than just circumstance. With steam, laughter and a touch of angst, Shameless was a sweet and sexy love story.
Brady was not supposed to be the sole caretaker for his ailing parents or their landscaping business. He was not supposed to be raising a baby. He was supposed to be an art student and a tattoo artist. But life took a detour when his brother moved to Texas and never came back. To further rock Brady's foundation, his brother and his wife died in a tragic accident and left their young child in his care. When he shows up to the farm that he now owns and finds Katherine with a baby, he has the shock of his life.
Katherine is devastated that her best friend and her best friend's husband died. While she waits for the baby's only living uncle to come get her, she does her best to make things normal. But after running from her life in the big city, she found that she doesn't want to give up life on the farm. Yet this is just one more thing taken from her. When Brady shows up, she's not sure what to make of the big, bad tattooed city boy. As they spend time together settling the farms affairs, she falls a little more for Brady even as she promised she wouldn't. He's leaving and she'll have to move on but that's easier said than done.
Lex Martin kept me on the edge of my seat. I fell in love with these two emotionally devastated characters. I appreciated their honesty and openness. Brady was so sweet and just an absolute dream. He made me laugh and swoon and sigh. Of course there were times I wanted to wake him up a bit but he more than made up for those times in the end. Katherine was sweet and unassuming but so incredibly strong. She took her lumps and made the best of them. Together Katherine and Brady burned up the pages of my Kindle and kept a smile on my face.
