One weakness can change everything.

Meara and Liam were friends before they could talk, in love since they could drive, and planning their future before they graduated high school. In order to start the life they’ve always dreamed of, Liam just has to finish his tour with the band.

He doesn’t want anyone else. Liam’s only ever had eyes for Meara, and he can’t wait to finally get home to her. But when his dark secret is exposed and his entire world crumbles around him, he has no choice but to let her go.

Meara would wait for him forever. She knows that Liam will always be hers, especially now that she has an unexpected surprise for him. But just when the life she’s waited for is in her grasp, she discovers something that destroys her fairytale ending.

Can two people who are destined for each other find their future together with mistakes between them? Will their love be able to repair the heartbreak and lies?

One night was all it took for everything to fall apart.

Can one moment be all that’s needed to repair it?

“Does this mean what I think it means?”

My head shakes on his chest when he laughs. I look up at him and flick his nose.

“Yeah, princess. Go find it.”

I bite the inside of my cheek then press a hard kiss to his lips, hop off the couch, and run to grab my laptop. Once I have it, I sit at the kitchen table and power it on, tapping my fingers anxiously. Liam stands behind me and places his hands on my shoulders, gently rubbing them, his thumbs kneading into my back. My head falls forward for a moment, and I let him take my stress away.

Too excited to wait any longer, I roll my head back up and type in the address bar. Once I scroll through the website and see one that stands out, I point at it. “You like it?”

“I don’t care. I already told you this.”

“Liam, it’s a house, not a shirt. You have to have an opinion.”

“My opinion is that I don’t care what the house looks like as long as you’re in it.”

God, I love this man. He always said that we’d buy a house when he finished with his tour. In my mind, I was prepared to wait, so there was no way I could contain my excitement that I get to start house hunting now. I’ve always had this vision of what I want my house to look like.

“Give me something. Anything. Please, Lee. I want you to like it, too.”

“All right.” He kisses the top of my head and sits next to me. “I want privacy. If there’s not a fence already, I’ll build one, and I want some land. I don’t want the neighbors to be able to look over and see me fucking you.”

“Ha-ha.”

“Think I’m joking?” The screeching of the metal chair legs pierces my ears when he turns it so my body is in front of his. He grips my upper arms, looking right at me to make sure I see him, too. “I’ve gone seven years not being able to have you whenever I want you. Seven horrific years of fucking my own hand almost daily when I only got to be inside you every three or four months. Do you have any idea how much I want you? Constantly.” He answers without giving me a chance to speak as his fingers tighten on my arms. “You are always on my mind. Your face. Your smile. Your smartass mouth. Your body. And just thinking about you constantly makes me hard. Can you imagine how it’s going to be living together, waking up next to each other, and sleeping in the same bed every night?”

I squirm in my chair, wetness quickly dampening my underwear. He trails a couple of fingers down my arm and grabs my wrist then places my hand on his rock hard dick. With his hand on top of mine, he squeezes.

“It’s always like this for you. Only you. Doesn’t matter how many whores or groupies walk around backstage half naked. You’re the only one who can ever do this to me. Always have been and always will be. And if I know I get to come home and touch you, love you, fuck you every day for the rest of my life … Princess, it doesn’t matter where it is or what it looks like as long as you’re there.”

My Review

Finding new-to-me authors is my favorite. And this book is one reason why. With such a well written story that had both heart and steam, I now need to go back and read the first two in the series. Meara and Liam's story follows them from when they were very young children who became best friends until they were adults in love trying to preserve their relationship through the trials of long periods of separation.

Having grown up together, Liam and Meara have always been inseparable. As young adults they realized that they were meant for more than just best friends. But just because they knew and loved each other, didn't mean they didn't have their own goals. During high school Liam formed a band with his friends and after graduation they decided to take one year to see if they could make it. Meara had her own goals of taking over her family's pub and needed to stay home. So the two went their separate ways but all the while stayed true to each other and saw each other as often as they could.

Fast forward 7 years. Liam's band took off better than anyone could have expected. Traveling all over the country and playing music was what they hoped but never expected to happen. Even so Meara and Liam have made it work. They have both stayed true and devoted to one another and relish the time they get to spend together. But when old demons resurface, they are left to pick up the pieces and prove that they are meant to be together.

This story was one that I couldn't put down. I had to find out what Liam did to break Meara's trust in him. <spoiler>This is a safe read. There's no cheating </spoiler> I had to know that these two would be okay. I also loved that this wasn't your typical rocker romance. Liam really was dedicated to Meara the whole time, but this wasn't a rocker romance in which the band was in the for front. Liam and Meara's relationship was always center stage and Liam's desire to go home warmed my heart. Of course I struggled with some of his choices, but Ms. Brooks did a phenomenal job of writing a realistic look at the consequences from his actions. It's just that some mistakes are so large that they can over shadow even the strongest relationships, but watching these two struggle and then try to begin again made me smile all the way until the end.

Title: The Redemption of Roan
Author: Kathy Coopmans

****EXCERPT REVEAL****

“Dance with me?”

Her eyes glimmer. The most captivating smile spreads across her face. Taking her beer out of her hand, I set it down on the table next to me. I gently pull her into my arms. Her body presses firmly to mine. Her hands twine around my neck. God, she feels so good. It’s as if she was made to be here in my arms. We sway slowly. Clapton’s deep velvety voice is speaking the truth. She does look wonderful.

“You surprise me at every turn, Mr. Diamond.” Her breath is so close to my ear. I’ve never danced with a woman before. I have no clue what the hell I’m even doing. All I know is she spears my thoughts. I can’t stop thinking about her. I could easily become addicted to this euphoria as much as I’m already addicted to her well-being. I’m in way over my damned head. I know so much about her, yet I feel like there is so much more to learn. I’m turning into one of those fuck-puppets. She has me dangling on a damn string and doesn’t even fucking know it. Alina has the upper hand here without knowing much about me. I chastise myself mentally to move slowly, to learn about her more intimately. Not in a sexual way. She needs to know she can trust me. I wonder what’s going through her mind right now. My mind is screaming at me to find out things about her I don’t know, while my dick is trying to fight its way out of my pants. Yeah, well forget it, buddy. She will definitely be worth the wait.

“That’s the plan.” My voice is gruff.

She squeals slightly when I dip her back, her long naked neck exposed. It’s my tongue this time that wants to reach out and run up her graceful neck. Lick her lazily, seductively. I rein him in. Keep my mouth shut. I bring her back up, spinning her slowly then bringing her back into me. I need to tie my dick up with my tongue, this way they’ll both shut the hell up.

“Are you a romantic?”

Our mouths are not even an inch apart.

“I’ve never had anyone to romance before.”

I’m speaking the truth. My hand instinctively reaches up and caresses her cheek.

“You are astoundingly beautiful in every way a woman should be.”

The music keeps playing. It switched to a different song. I’m so caught up in her I couldn’t tell you the name of the song if my life depended on it. It’s slow and sensual, exactly the same way we are swaying back and forth. There’s no lead and follow between us. We’re two people attracted to each other.

We’ve stopped moving. My hand is still stroking her cheek. Her eyes dart to my lips. My plan was to go slow with her. To not even kiss hertonight before I took her home. To let her know I respect her in every way. But I can’t seem to help myself. My face leans in slowly, knowing I only get one first kiss with this woman. I could devour her with my mouth, clue her in and let her know specifically what she does to me. Instead, when my lips brush across her soft lips, a spark ignites in me. I’ve often wondered if the truth stands behind what happens when two electric currents collide. I feel it. The heat is slowly building up, then vaporizing in an extremely hot explosion.

Darting my tongue out, I slowly glide it across her bottom lip. She exhales, opening wider, clinging her mouth to mine. My plan was to control this kiss, but she takes complete control, which shocks the shit out of me. I’ll let her for now. She shows no sign at all of her sweet innocence, her lack of experience. Those tantalizing plump lips feel better than I ever thought they would. She’s kissing me like she’s never been kissed before. Bringing my other hand up to hold her in place, I tilt her head to the perfect angle. Her tongue darts out first, slowly meshing with mine. I lose all control then, devouring her mouth with mine. Our tongues play war with one another, each one trying to demolish the other. Fuck me all the way back to Michigan. I am so totally screwed. Totally fucked.

Review

This is the second book in the Caldwell series.

This is the story of Morrison. I really liked all the Caldwell brothers from what i saw in book one Hendrix so i was really excited to read this.

Morrison is a player both in the Casino and out. He spends his life trying to earn enough money so he never feels second class again. He has the best clothes the best apartments and furnishings but he just seems to be bumbling along with no idea where he's going.

Hailey has had a really bad life. Daughter of a prostitute who has spent her life being held under the guard of her pimp father doesn't see any escape from her life. She is basically set up and sold on to another man who wants to control her and take away her choices. She is forced into marriage to him and has a daughter from him. When she meets Morrison she has just escaped her husband and is trying to earn the funds to pay him back for everything she has ever had off him. She owes him and he won't let her go until she has repaid in full.

I will say this book took a little getting into but i think that was because i had it in my head that he would be the total Alpha that Hendrix was. Unexpectedly he wasn't and it took a while for me to wrap my head around that. But once i got into his character i actually loved him for not being the bossy alpha he actually was (don't worry he shows it towards the end!). He knew he had to play it differently with Hailey as her whole life she had, had her choices took off her. He gave her room to make those choices and also gave her the space she needed to find out what she wanted. Although he may have pushed her in the right direction he gave her what she needed. I loved how Hailey questioned herself and sorted through things that weren't just about Morrison but herself and her life and where she wanted it to go. He was actually perfect for her and he saw that from the start. He found what he didn't realize he was looking for. A family of his own. I also loved the relationship he had with little chick and if you're a single mom like me it will give you hope that there are guys out there who will take you and your children as a package and love them too.

I was really happy to catch up with Hendrix and Livi and seeing them interact with Morrison and Hailey and making them all one big family. Livi gave Hailey some great advice. I also loved seeing Jagger and glimpses of what's to come in book 3 from him.

The only downside i felt to this book was there was a little too much inner monologue rather than conversations between the characters and i kinda feel we missed out on some things because of this. But it didn't spoil the overall enjoyment of the book and i would absolutely recommend it to anyone. It can be read as a standalone but i would recommend you read Hendrix first otherwise you will be missing out!
